When it was going on, i thought it was the parents. However, over listening to it and reading about it over the years, i believe the parents were the innocent and it was a targeted crime.

I think that is a very viable option LL. I think Patsy was convicted by the Public, because at the time it happened, most of us weren't aware of these Beauty pagents for kids. However, Patsy was Miss Utah or something like that so she had competed all her life. So, putting her child in them was just a normal thing to do. No different than us putting our kids in basketball because we played. But, at the time seeing a 6 year old dressed to the nines like a fashion model with hair and makeup seemed very shocking to people. And, the Police only seemed to focus on them despite evidence that pointed away from them, like a suitcase under the open basement window, etc.

If the crime scene was really handled as poorly as it was shown on this movie, the police in Boulder were idiots.

I thought then and still think the parents are guilty.

I think if they didn't do it, they know who did.

I think it started as punishment for wetting the bed and it ended in death.

I don't believe that at all. I believe Patsy was a loving and kind mother. There is no evidence suggesting otherwise.

The ransom letter is extremely odd though. However, if someone broke in who felt comfortable, then taking the time to write that really isn't beyond the pale. They were at a Christmas party that evening. The intruder could have been lying in wait.

I have no idea but the police did such a poor job in containing the crime scene that the evidence was contaminated.

The local police did such a horrible job that the state took over for a time. They found the scene was not secured and they did find a basement window that had been opened, the local police previously said the window had been untouched. It was not the family.

Look at Polly Klaus. There are lots of examples of intruders coming and committing crimes. I can understand that they havent' processed hardly any murders. Fine. So they made some mistakes. They keep whining about John Ramsey finding his daughter's body and running upstairs with her as if that is some indication of guilt. Any normal father would do that.

Why did John say over and over "he didn't mean to"?

Why was John wanting to leave the state so fast?

I strongly believe, and I said this back when it happened, if the parents, one or both, didn't do it, they know who did.

All the evidence points to an outsider. Boulder police were idiots and did everything in their power to MAKE the parents look guilty. It obviously worked because there are mstill some who believe it despite the evidence.

I really think Burke did it and when the parents found her they did what they had to do to make it look like a stranger did it. I don't know that he did it on "purpose" but I believe he hit her with the ball bat and it killed her. They did an experiment with a kid the exact same weight and stature as Burke at the time on a dummy duplicating Jon Benet that proved he could have physically done it and the head wound was almost exact to hers. He was jealous of her and he showed literally no remorse or sadness in interviews done weeks after her death. He seemed quite content in fact. He had hit her before with a golf club so it seems he very well could have hit her with a bat. There was a 2 night special on this case a month or so ago that really made me believe he is the one. It makes sense that the parents would protect him.

They found evidence of an intruder. There was unidentified dna on her underwear. I'm not sure how that possibly leads back to the parents. Burke is the only one in the house that was ruled out as the possible killer. The police screwed the investigation up big time then spent years trying to convince you they didn't. They did that by blaming the parents when they knew perfectly well that it was probably and intruder by then.

Of course a kid that age has the physical ability.

I watch kids play ball, little kids, 7, 8, 9, can hit home runs. We've even had balls in our yard from little kids hitting them during games.

I think the police focused on the family so much, they let the real killer get away. The DNA on her panties show someone else was with her.

Yes it was. They try to explain it away as transferred DNA but it was sperm according to the Grand Jury.

No it wasn't. The Grand Jury voted to indict the Ramsey's in 1999 but the district attorney decided not to file charges. I wonder why.

The grand jury also had alleged that each parent "did ... render assistance to a person, with intent to hinder, delay and prevent the discovery, detention, apprehension, prosecution, conviction and punishment of such person for the commission of a crime, knowing the person being assisted has committed and was suspected of the crime of murder in the first degree and child abuse resulting in death."

Easily enough. It was a planned kidnapping, but something went wrong and she was knocked out and then killed.

The Boulder police did everything in their power to get Patsy charged but the State Police knew there were too many weird things that couldn't be explained if it was someone in the house.

People need to be guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. This was just America's version of the Amanda Knox case. Make up your mind and try to find the evidence to fit instead of the other way around.

It was a horrible tragedy. But I do think the parents knew who did it and tried to help cover it up. Maybe because it was a close family member or friend, or because they knew the killer was a sociopath and allowed their daughter to be around him and they felt guilty about it.

I think that a parent murdering their own child is horrific and beyond our way of thinking to believe. My brother worked in law enforcement and he believes the parents did it or knows who. He seen a lot on the police force.

I never underestimate the potential depravity of people and their capability for evil. I just don't think this is one of those times that the parents did it.

The ransome note asked for pretty much what the father had just gotten as a bonus. I think it was either that weird family friend or the brother and then the parents amped up the crime scene to protect the brother.

That DNA could have been already there.

They were at a party the night before.

Seems they needed to get samples from everyone she had contact with for the whole 24 hours prior.

Maybe it was an alien. I doubt any of those scenarios. There is NO reason for foreign DNA to be on her underwear unless it's from her killer.

AT this point I am so over it. There are a million other horrific things going on in the world today that also need our attention. To drag up a sad case from that long ago... ugh. We will never know. Period. I think we need to move on to cases that actually have a chance to get solved.

Either some random stranger did it and they are never going to find them; or
The parents did it, and they are both dead; or
The family friend did it, and he's dead; or
A nine year old boy did it, and he wouldn't be tried as an adult anyway, and he'd be out walking the streets like he is.
