Working from home this morning, going to the polls around 10. Traffic is probably starting to get gridlocked right now. I figure at 10 the traffic won't be so terrible.

Do or die people. Is America utterly corrupt? Or is there a chance for Freedom? Are we going the way of socialist Europe where our cultures and values will die? Or do Americans STILL desire to be free and independent and self reliant?
If Clinton wins, there will be celebrating that becomes riots.

We don't have early voting. Someone just posted on my town's FB site that they had to walk 1/2 mile and the line was wrapped around the building twice.

Big day ahead. I have a training class to attend, then I'll vote and go home to work. I understand the lines at the polls are record breaking right now.
Wonder why a fast pass voting system hasn't been developed?

Well, are Americans so lazy that we can't wait a half hour to vote now for the right to vote that soldiers died for? I mean, oh it isn't 'easy" enough so people stay home? Really?
Personally I don't think voting should be all that easy. It's your Civic Duty. And, no, i don't think we should be voting from our Iphones. There needs to be oversight and integrity in the process. However, with computer voting now, i really don't believe there is anymore.

Lily is incorrect, the reason there are such lines and gridlocked traffic is because people aren't staying away. in another hour, i will go wait my turn in the traffic.

I'm going to go at lunch and see what the wait is. If it's not bad, I'll vote then. If it's too long, I'll go back after work and wait as long as I have to
I think some do not vote because of the long wait.
Not everyone can go stand in a line for 30 minutes.
There are physical reasons why others cant.
I don't think it's everyone, but it certainly is some.
Which brings me back to a fast pass method.
What if you could arrange a time to vote that would shorten your wait time to about 15 minutes?
You still need your ID. It's just a shorter que.

But, I understand your point Lilly. We havent' really updated the process in years. I do think the computers are a terrible, terrible idea. I think there absolutely should be a paper trail. And, not sure why there couldn't be appt times to vote or something like that. Makes sense. Some of the voting facilities are pretty bad. Ours is just in an aluminum Grange building and there is no seating or anything like that. And, just 3 rickety voting booths. One of the voting boths doesn't even have a curtain and while standing in line you can see who the people are voting for. I wasn't crazy about that. I suppose i could have kicked up a fuss about that or complained. I do think there should be some privacy. They could put the machine over in the corner where there aren't people standing behind you.

So, soldiers can crawl thru fields but nobody can tolerate sore legs or a wedge in their underwear?
I'm not a soldier.
Most arent.
I'm also not saying don't vote.
I'm just speaking to the mindset of a lot of potential voters.

There are a few million Christians who simply abstain from voting because they feel they are making a statement.
But the only thing they are doing is allowing the devil to win.

I voted on my way to work. It only took about a half hour. The line was sort of long but moved quickly with 2 scanners. I haven't voted in a long time & was surprised they used paper ballots. Last time I voted they had voting booths where you pulled levers. Traffic was terrible though.
Well, not voting up here, but there are election parties happening! For the record, socialism doesn't mean losing independence and culture (just an FYI). Our last election also had long lineups and the poles and we were also voting 'dictatorship vs free will' and people also vote here because Canadian soldiers also died for our right to be free. As do most other countries. Nobody has full claim on that one. Most of those countries are also socialist and yet have thriving and unique cultures.
Anyways, whichever way this election goes, the world is watching. I'm looking forward to seeing if there is any change in the US dollar tomorrow. Under Bush the USD was low enough that Canada reached par and even exceeded at one point. In the last few years the USD has grown exponentially making trade (and student loan payments) almost impossible. It would be nice to see that come down. Perhaps this election will be the tipping point!

My pastor gave a sermon about the duty to vote. He didn't tell us who to vote for, but he did preach about the importance of being part of the process of leading.

Well, ya know, Tig, if people keep their word, you might have a bigger immigration problem than us tomorrow!

Also, on a non-election note, I woke up still angry that that doctor yesterday had the gall to think that she knew more - in our first appointment - than all the doctors that came before her in the last 10 years. And that in our first appointment she thought that she could make recommendations regarding not only my psychiatric treatment plan but also my counselling.
Literally ... you think that you are the first person in 10 years to suggest counselling to improve coping skills? Let's think about the fact that I am still alive. That alone demonstrates that my coping skills are effective. They don't work, however, when the chemicals in my brain are offline. In fact, nothing works at that point.
Technically, I qualify for disability. I don't use it because I have enough coping skills to be functional. But thank you, new dr, for not reading my chart. Drs suck. I want my old one back. I'm not going to see that one anymore. There are others in the practice that I can see instead.
I was up early and voted this morning. I was in line when they opened, #49. It only took about 20 minutes or so to get thru the line and be back in the car.
Working day. Boss is driving me crazy! Think I will head out for lunch today just to get away from him. He took away my only holiday pay I get, Thanksgiving. I only work on on Tuesdays and Thursdays and most holidays are on Mondays. I'd rather use a vacation day than come in another day.
I don't know if i can watch the day unfold. If Hillary wins, i am going to be extremely sad for my children and this country. I guess i just want to wake up tomorrow and deal with it then. I cannot fathom how anyone could elect that horrible, despicable woman.
I beat you jlbear! I was number 26 this morning. Yup, and there was a line. For a small community, it looks like it will be a great turn out of voters.
Praying our country survives, but am afraid of the chaos in the streets of the big cities tonight.

Faith isn't something that keeps bad things from happening. Faith is what helps us get through bad things when they do happen.
I understand there were problems in Martinsburg, WV (My old stomping grounds and voting precinct) with voting. Polling people denied someone their right to vote, claiming they already voted. Apparently there are stubs that are removed when someone votes, and the stub was not removed but merely turned back. It took the voter 20 minutes and numerous phone calls before they found the "error" and allowed her to vote. This occurred in Kentucky as well.
Technically, yes he can since I am part time and salary. I am just bummed/pissed that this is the year he decided to leverage it. I usually take that week of so it has never come up before.
I do have plenty of vacation and personal days. I could take a whole month off and still have days leftover to use. I will be using vacation days for 12/22, 27 & 29 and still be paid out for at least 5 unused days this year. That is a little more than one extra paycheck.
I voted. Took a total of 7 minutes from parking the car to getting back in. I love my small town. My mom and I are all set to watch everything unfold tonight. I bought 2 bottles of wine and 4 boxes of bagel bites last night. We're ready!
We are going to a county party at a fancy schmancy country club. I really think hubby has a good chance of winning! I SO hope it goes well for him!
praying God's will for ya'll .

I didn't like the candidate for Congress in our district so I wrote my DH's name in. (No republicans were running against the demo incumbent).
Unless they are doing a really good job, or he really doesn't like the alternative, my dad usually always votes against the incumbent.
