My oldest 2 don't have insurance, don't qualify for any help to get insurance, and are exempt from being required to have it.
Right now, they are supposed to get a letter of exemption so they don't have to pay the fine.
My question is, if repealed, will they still need that letter for this year, or how will the repeal affect that?

Not sure. I am too busy trying to help the several people I know who are using the ACA insurance navigate what their options might be. I think their families will probably have to go without insurance. One of them has a pretty serious preexisting condition and won't be able to get coverage. It's going to be a huge mess for a lot of people.

Ok so the deal is our plans are locked in for 2017. Trump can do nothing about that. But he can for 2018. He has 6 months to start a transition but the transition has to be a 2 year plan of allow the insurance companies to re plan, give it time.

There shouldn't be a fine because you can't afford something.
All the new math in the world can't make that make sense.

I don't think the fines will be an issue. That is definitely something that can be changed January 21st. IRS laws are often changed in the middle of a year.

So, if I read that right, the fines for not having insurance will be stopped.
I hope so.

Trump is a smart guy. He not going to cancel anything until he understands the issues. He didn't run for Pres to have power, he did it to fix the Country. He will take care of American citizens, Illegals not so much.

I'm hoping they are smart enough to have the replacement well thought out and ready to be implemented when they repeal it. No rushing and figuring out what's in it after they pass it.

I think it should all be done as one act. Impose and implement the replacement at the same time as the garbage that is Obamacare is repealed.
Don't partially repeal Obamacare. Repeal it in it's complete and utter entirety. If there's parts that are liked (which I believe that there are; like, no denial based on pre-existing conditions), then include them in the replacement law.
