Someone I know put lemon pieces under the skin of her turkey for flavor, then added the ends on the breasts so the turkey looked like it had boobs. It was freaky-looking.

That was all over FB. I bet lots of people did that this year.

I know it is not the Christian way, but say NOT RIP. He tortured many, stole from many, and Jailed many. He was not a good person at all.
Someone, somewhere loved him. They are hurting. Regardless of what he's done, his loved ones deserve respect.
Something I think is worth discussing: There was a lot of accusations of media bias during this election cycle. As such, I have to wonder how much of what was reported about Castro is true and how much was media bias or slanted to further a desired point.
I believe those who lived under him are pretty happy he is gone. I have A friend who had grown up in a communist country and she has nothing good to say about it. If anything the media candy coats how bad living under a dictator can be.

Chef, I was a baby during the Bay of Pigs, but it was part of my history and my teaching. In the 60's and 70's our history teachings were raw, we learned as it happened it was not watered down as it seems to have been in the past 3 decades. Global nuclear war was a huge threat. Thankfully, Reagan took care of that with the Russians. And Trump will do the same thing. The Castro regime continues, no relief for the people in Cuba. They are kept down and depressed economically which translate into every other part of their lives. Don't be fooled. He was a bad man.

I remember the late 70s and early 80s, watching the news and hearing and seeing the things he was doing and saying.
It could be very scary.

Not fooled. I learned a lot about media bias over the course of this election cycle. I'm applying that learning to Castro.

Chef your take on Castro really disturbs me. He was a horrible man. He was mentally disturbed. Killed and/or tortured thousands. Small Caribbean islands have always relied on tourism for economic benefits and he brought that to a halt in Cuba making for a very poor lifestyle for the Cubans. Prior to his reign, Cuba enjoyed a great economy, sure they still had a dictator, but more people had jobs to support their families with. Why do you think thousand every year risked their lives and the lives of their children to try to make it to America? They were not trying to escape a nice life for sure.
I suggest you seek out books written by those that were witness to his coup.

It's not my take on him. I've never studied him - as an adult, I don't recall every lesson in History class throughout school but am sure at least some were about him. I like to make informed decisions.
I haven't heard anything good about him. Perhaps nothing good exists. Perhaps it does and didn't get reported. I don't know.
Hopefully the people of Cuba will enjoy a better life under whoever the new ruler is.

The current ruler is his brother, and has been in power for a few years now. Little has, or will be, changing
You want to know what 1946 Cuba looked like, you could walk into it now.
Granted, I'd love to visit it before it becomes a tourist trap.
Castro almost caused nuclear war.
He took everything from the people.
He killed people who spoke against him

I'm sorry he died, but I'm not sorry he's dead. If that makes sense.
He was a horrible man who did many many horrible things to many many people. His judgement is being handed out now. He will pay for eternity for the crimes he committed.

Ding dong, the dick is dead. The world is now a better place.
Some people make the world a better place, and some make it a worse place - Castro was definately in the worse column. He was a murderer and horrid up until the end. There was nothing redeeming about that man.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
like other young marxist " revolutionaries " in central america, castro was an extremist dictator--he was a murderer on a mass scale, a brutal sadist and contemptuous of basic human rights--to say otherwise, to give him the " benefit of the doubt " is to admit one's ignorance of the facts and deny the reality of Fidel's reign
glad he's dead
