I am off for the next two days so I am taking the girls shopping. DD from NYC is here for a few more days and wants to hit a mall. Hasn't shopped at a mall in years so we are headed to the mothership - Mall of America. We also have a really nice outlet nearby so we will hit that as well.
Since both girls haven't lived together in 7 years I was afraid there might be some bickering. We almost had a fight when DD25 accused her sister of not helping clean up after the meal on Christmas. DD18 reminded her sister politely that she cooked the day before without her help and spent 2 days cleaning prior to her arrival so not helping cleanup on Christmas was ok. DD25 didn't argue with that and let it go - a first. She usually plays the older sister card - I am older than you and I had to help out all the time, etc. Whew. Sisters. They are 6 1/2 years apart and the age difference creates drama.

Ok, I admit I'm being a grinch. DN and her illegal husband (can you tell, I don't like him?) texted they were dropping by today to spend the afternoon and evening. One, I'm just getting over a cold and don't really want company. Two, the always come expecting to be served a huge meal, either by me cooking it or taking them out to eat. Three, they are very judgmental. Four, I just don't wanna. :mumbling: as I make a fresh grocery list and head out to the store.
They don't understand no. Tell them no and they just shows up without proir notification. You know you can do that to fam-i-ly, you should be able to just drop in whenever and always be welcome.
DN is religious and very gullible. She meet a older, illegal Mexican while visiting a Spanish church service. He paid her a lot of attention and told her how God had brought them together. She fell for it hook, line and sinker. He says hes just like her, a God fearing person that just happened to be born in Mexico. In heaven there won't be borders, so it's ok to disregard them here.
He's been deported at least 3 times, arrested a couple of time for DUI, supposedly a former gang member (not so sure about the former part), routinely transports other illegals across the US, uses a stolen identity and basically has a total disregard for US laws.
He treats niece like a second class citizen. He has the lastest and greatest iPhone, she has a flip phone. He gets home, when he gets there because he needs time to de-stress after work. She needs to have supper waiting, no matter what time he decides to come home. Her car breaks down. Too bad. They live one block from his job and he needs to his car to get to and from work, she can walk or use the bus. They only attend Spanish church services because he needs to be around his kind of people. It's ok to use a stolen identity, because he stills pays taxes. She can't get health insurance thru his job, because they needed a copy of the marriage license and of course his name doesn't match.
He had the nerve to ask DH and I to write a letters supporting his need to become a citizen based on 1) DN need for him to support her, 2) DN would suffer if he had to return to Mexico, 3) it would not be in DN's best interest to move to Mexico, 4) his upstanding citizenship and his good moral character. DH and I about choked. It didn't happen, no way, no how!
The only reason we tolerate them is because we feel that someday he will leave niece in a royal mess and she will need someone to help her.
Leave all your stuff out and order a couple pizzas. I agree that family can drop by anytime. But if you drop by with less than at least a days notice, you get what you get, which is probably laundry on the floor and half a bag of chips.

She's already in a royal mess. Some of my best friends over the years have been Hispanic and your description of his expectations is typical. She could put a stop to it but if she doesn't feel good enough about herself to put her foot down, it will continue as-is.
Speaking of falling for the wrong guy, my ex got me hook and line, in fact if there ever was a sinker I'm sure he stole it from me somewhere along the way, so I feel badly for her. I can relate, though I didn't put up with his cr*p and ultimately he couldn't deal with that.
The real delima is do I remove my Donald Trump Christmas card, Team Trump membership card and my Make America Great stickers?
So I am playing a fantasy in my mind. You put up your Trump / Pence flag if you have one. Put Hillary TP in the bathroom. Start talking about the wonderful results of the election as soon as they step in the door. Oh and order pizza, preferably with toppings he doesn't like.

Faith isn't something that keeps bad things from happening. Faith is what helps us get through bad things when they do happen.
DE, family is always welcome but that doesn't mean demanding and bad behavior is.
They'd get leftovers and a time to leave.
DN is obviously an adult, she has put herself in the middle of her situation, let her lay in the bed she made.
Dad is home from work, his ankle is still bothering him. I'm trying to talk him into getting an xray.
