Would you make a claim?

Yesterday I was driving on the freeway and a rock hit my window and made three tiny chips. I could cover all three at the same time with my thumb. It's barely noticeable but still chips in the glass. I already called and have someone coming tomorrow to do the resin thingy to fix the glass. Would you guys have called it in or driven around as is? My concern would be the glass cracking once it started getting hot.

Better to call it in while it's no big deal

It's always better to have the glass repaired than risk having the crack spread. And insurance companies prefer that you do it, too.

Claim it, have the whole thing replaced.

I understand it's better for the stability of the car to just repair rather than replace.

Make a claim? No. Fix it? Yes.

I've driven with a chip for years, it began to crack and lasted another couple years.

Finally changed it about 2 years ago.

Our insurance covers "rocks hitting windshield", !00%. (Thank you, Safeco!)

I don't think we had to pay anything, to have the windshield replaced.

And, they sent someone to our house, to do it. It only took about 30 minutes. In our driveway. Yay!

I don't trust a patch job. (At least, not in Texas. I think it would fail, once we hit 105 degrees or more.)

Is it covered in your insurance? Is the cost of you fixing it less than any raise in insurance rates if you do claim it? Just cannot win with an insurance company. LOL

I would probably just have it fixed; forget about the claim.

My insurance covers glass. It's an easy fix. You do not want to replace the whole windshield or u might have problems with the seal. You won't even be able to tell after it is fixed.

When I had a chip, I called a mobile windshield glass service. They came out to my office, fixed it in about 15 minutes, and it cost about $10.00. They said the rest was billed to State Farm. State Farm gladly paid it.

Well they cancelled on me today and I'm leaving town tomorrow. I was trying to use the mobile service.

In our state the insurance company pays for the fix. I have used that service several times.

The one time a chunk was taken out of the windshield, insurance covered the cost of a new windshield.

IMHO, get it fixed.

Good luck.

Call it in. Usually you have full glass coverage or a $100 deductible.

Yes, I would have called it in. It could get worse, you made the right decision.
