I have a pile of stewing beef chunks that need to go into the crockpot today, otherwise they will go over. Any suggestions on recipes? I have lots of tomato based things on hand, jasmine rice and a myriad of flavorings (and beef stock). Can probably MacGyver any other ingredients. Want to have it in the pot in the next hour.
Rough cut some potatoes, carrots, onion, and celery to about the same size of the beef, or smaller if you wish.
If you have mushrooms, add those, too.
Put all of it in the crock, season with salt, pepper, and garlic.
Add about 12 ounces of beef stock, 4 tablespoons of butter, and can of crushed tomatoes.
Cover, cook about 4-6 hours, or done.
Beef stew, and easily free able and microwavable.

Okay - so I tossed the beef cubes in flour and as many seasonings as I could find to go together and tossed them in with a base of carrots, beef broth and tomato sauce. And then added a pile of taco seasoning for good measure. Put it on for 7hrs on low, so we'll see. I also might have crowded the pot, so it might not be as good as it otherwise would be. I didn't realize how much beef was in that package!
So I sauteed the remaining cubes and will mix them up for a pasta sauce that can go over noodles. I'll be eating beef for a month, but I will save a pile of money!
I have put the stew meat in the bottom of a slow cooker, topped with baby carrots, onion quarters, red potatoes sliced in half and a can of stewed tomatoes. Season as you wish. I just use salt and pepper and a dash of tabasco. I may add a little water, but that's about it.
My family loves it.
