That's what I thought as well.
Hillary lead this department for far to long. It's as corrupt as she is, IMHO.
They need to go, period.
Draining the swamp has to begin somewhere.

somehow think that a guy that has done a competent job running one of the largest multi-nationals on earth will have no problem locating/installing folks that can run a " complex bureaucracy "

This was not exactly unexpected news. Top level government positions routinely hand in resignations on a change in leadership. In some cases they are accepted. This is one of those cases.
Doing this is a way of saving face, and it's been going on for decades.
And there's not really a thread for this that I can see, so I'll just say it here: It's nice to hear stuff from Washington that doesn't include "and President Obama..." or "at the request of President Obama...".
Plainly speaking, I'm just tickled pink that nothing happening in Washington has anything to do with "President Obama" anymore.
Our top level guy's resignation was handed back to him and he was told to continue for a couple more months until Trump decides whether to keep him or replace him. These guys at the State Dept. were fired.
