Tomorrow, meniscus repair.  I would appreciate good Geeky thoughts and prayers.  My surgeon is one of the best in the area.  I (and my brother, too) inherited my dad's knees and his fraying meniscus.  There's a torn piece in there causing problems and I'm told that it being there accelerates formation of arthritis.  I'm also partially bone-on-bone; no wonder it hurts.  Doc says I'll be getting the lubricating shots after it heals.

I really want to be able to walk my dogs - haven't power-walked for 3 months and I miss it.  I'll be out of commission for a bit but I have family and friends at church to help if necessary.

When you start doing Physical Therapy, take your pain
meds about 30 minutes before. This will get the meds
in your system, so you won't tense up when it starts
to hurt, and you'll be able to do longer and better PT
sessions.

Is he doing arthroscopic? or full incision? Which ever,
good thoughts going your way.

 LOL Cheerios - it's my third one so I know what they're doing.  The surgeon always gives you pictures of what he did in there, but it's hard to tell what you're looking at.

I'm home, on Percocet (sp) and feeling pretty good.  Surgeon was happy, said he took a big loose piece out of there and told me I can (after healing) still walk my dogs! I'm cleared for weight-bearing as tolerated but a friend at work warned me to beware of pain meds masking the pain; I need to focus on not overdoing it.  

Thanks so much everyone - getting in bed now with my little dog, a good book and my cryo-cuff on my knee.
