I have bees. I love working with them and giving free honey to everyone I know. This will be year 2 for me and my hive is thriving so far. We set the yard up so it works for the bees, calm water with a safe spot to land and wildflowers by the ton. We also have chickens, water available and they have their own herb garden that helps them stay healthy.

General Mills is part of Big Food that spends millions lobbying against people having the right to know what is in their food. They use genetically modified food and don't want to tell people that. Furthermore, scientists have proven that genetically modified crops and the pesticides used on them are killing off the bees and the butterflies.
So, their "save the bees" campaign is hypocritical and they are trying to make themselves look good while being a big part of the problem in the first place.

We can help save the bee population if we do something about it soon. Too many people won't even admit that they are going extinct and when they do good luck trying to pay for food when it has to be manually pollinated. There are other animals and insects that pollinate plants but the main pollinators are bees and butterflies for sure.

We have butterfly bushes in the north 40. They are filled with butterflies and bees in the summer. But no honeybees. I think those are the ones becoming extinct.

You should. It is natures perfect food. It never goes bad (if it crystalizes just warm it up), has healing properties both internal and external and it tastes good. Sorry...lol. Since I started keeping bees I've been on a bender to find out as much as possible.

I know!
Have a friend whose family has had bees for ever.

I give it to the boys for coughs and sore throats. And marshmallows. They are soothing.
I started giving it to my kids around a year old, to help build up their resistance to pollen.
I think it did a world of good.

I've read some interesting theories of what would happen if the bees became extinct. Like disaster proportions.
I don't care about GMO's. we've been eating them a long time.
I am interested to learn more about the bee thing though.
And since we've been eating them, obesity, autism and allergies have skyrocketed.
And Monsanto's pesticides are killing the bees. They make "Round-up" ready seeds that can withstand extremely high levels of pesticides sprayed on our food - which is HORRIBLE for the environment and for us.
And GMOs are banned in most countries b/c the studies that are not funded by Monsanto show they are not safe.

Of course.

Dandelions are the first food of bees in the spring. Yet everyone sprays the crap out of dandelions.
Don't be a part of the problem folks.
Just sayin'.
One - if people pre-treat their lawns, the dandelions don't appear. The lawns the dandelions do appear in are the ones that are usually not treated.
The evidence of the toxins in those pesticides used on genetically modified foods is indisputable. The problem is when people ignore it and let it continue.
Poison is poison. If it can kill weeds, insects and bees - enough of it can kill you, too. Why do you think more people are getting cancer even as smoking is decreasing?

If the bees are going away, does this mean we are soon going to be ripped from our orbit and transported across space to end up as part of a multi-world gravitational engine?

Yes, I do. Everyone should. This is not a political issue. This is not a religious issue. This is not anything there should be sides on. Everyone should hate it. Anyone who cares about their own health and what they feed their children.
Well, except the greedy, immoral bastards making millions of dollars off of it. Of course, I've heard the president of Monsanto eats organic.

I do firmly believe that GMOs are responsible for the rise in autism and other genetic defects. LL did convince me of that through her thoroughly researched stand on it.

People don't want to hear it. It's not an easy thing to avoid and requires giving things up they don't want to. This big food thing is exactly like Big Tobacco. They lied in the beginning saying how great, relaxing and good for you it was - get you hooked, refuse to admit the dangers, and then people start dying. But today still people smoke, even knowing all the dangers. They live in denial, or they just don't care - they want what they want, they want it cheaply, and damn what it does to theirs or anybody else's health; that's the future's problem.

This is an issue that LL and I 100% fully agree on. Big Ag has himacked our food system. They put Roundup in your food and you eat it. Unless you go non GMO that is. They chemically alter your food so that you will want to eat more of it - and that requires pulling the nutrition out of it.
