does anyone have experience with essensial oils? I, in general, think its a bunch of hokum. But I'm starting to get curious. My cousin got me a kit for Christmas. I opened one of the bottles last night. It smells good, but not sure if there was any effect. And I have a friend that is a total devotee of essential oils. She is posting multiple times a week about how it's helping and changed her life.
I'm willing to admit if I'm wrong, but just not sure. do they have any benefit?
Peppermint oil is good for muscle pain. It reduces inflammation. When I start to feel a cold coming on, I do a flu bomb (I mix several different ones in a capsule and swallow) and it either stops it or lessens the severity. I used to diffuse them nightly but got lazy.
When I have a nagging cough or hoarseness I will diffuse Oregano oil and it works great.
I've seen people post that it cures cancer. I think it can help a headache maybe but mostly it's overrated.

I'm not expecting them to be life changing (like my friend claims). If they were that amazing, I would have heard that more. I've noticed a lack of focus and energy lately (more so than my usual lack of energy). I've seen people that say they will help with that. And of course, stress relief.
It just makes me nervous trying something alternative like this. It's usually my thing.
Guess I should do some research, see if I can find the focus and energy mix.
I'm like you FNW, I don't want to sell anything. I just want to see if I can find some help
Try it with a positive attitude and see what happens?
You are now the guinea pig.

I really don't have a hobby. I've long thought I should develop one, but nothing has stuck. I'm really not as worried about the stress relief aspect, I feel I handle my stress pretty well. It's my lack of focus I need to do something about. And nothing so far has worked.
I think I'll go ahead and message my friend. What do I have to lose? Other than the few bucks for the oils.
Just be careful if you intend to ingest them. They need to be therapeutic grade. Ask your doctor if you are taking other medications. It is a very controversial issue.

People ingest them?? I just want to sniff them. I don't even want to put them on my skin.

When I was carrying my kids, the nurse midwife gave me spearmint scented bath kit.
Body wash, shampoo, candle, and some other things.
I don't know what to tell you, they always calmed me down, helped me focus, and just get my general crap together.
Try it.

Yes, I just fixed the autocorrect. Stupid phone. I guess it was as shocked as I am people ingest them (for the record, it just tried to change it again)
My sister uses them. She's a massage therapist and has a diffuser while she's working. She also uses them at home. A little peppermint oil on the temples is good for a headache.
A drop or two of peppermint oil in tea, or even just warm water, is good for a sore throat.
Follow with a teaspoon of natural honey.

I sent a message to my friend that's into them. The company she uses has a starter kit that looks like a good deal. However, I have her checking on how many of the oils it comes with contain peppermint. I don't want to buy something and not be able to use half of it.
The brands I use are Aura Cacia and Veriditas. They use organic materials and should be available in any natural food store in their Wellness department. They are not direct sales companies.
