Let's try to get through this week with a minimal of damage, shall we?

Back to the grind. Ugh. Apparently a slideshow I drafted for our policy office had a typo in it. Well, give me more than 5 minutes to draft one and I can do a better job. You'd think I jumped on the Director's desk and pee'd on it with the way they are acting. Guess they didn't see the "edit" button at the top where they could fix it themselves.

So, I live in a condominium/PUD complex in the city, and across the street is one of many "storm water basins" where I enjoy watching various wildlife. Most common is Canadian geese, but I've seen great while pelicans quite often (even though we're in the middle of California, not right by the coast), all kinds of Herons, etc. I was in my back yard over the weekend and heard the most gosh-awful bird noise, a cross between a rooster and a car wreck, LOL. I looked up and what do I see on my neighbor's roof? A big, healthy-looking Guinea Fowl! I figure someone gifted it to the basin, where there's plenty of forage because folks routinely throw grain and bird feed over the fence. What a racket this bird made!
This was, I think, a "Guinea Hen" because apparently the male has more red waddle under his beak. It was fun to see her - I hope she sticks around! The picture is very close to the bird I saw...

Guinea hens are nothing compared to peac0cks and
pea hens! During mating season (right now) the hens
scream 24/7 - and it sounds like someone is yelling
"help!".
Just glad that both guineas and peas eat lots and
lots of bugs!

My uncle had them, and other types of birds, and they were crazy.

What a busy day at work. Some many clusterfuchs made by other people but fall into my lap to fix. We have a finance team that is all young and well experienced, they are all very bright though and have good career futures. However, they work in a vacuum and tend to not think about impacts to anyone but their own team. I think the biggest problem is their supervisor is a bit clueless. By the end of the day, all was much better. phew
