The Democratic candidate running to replace Tom Price in Georgia's 6th Congressional District doesn't actually live in his district.
Jon Ossoff said in an interview with CNN Tuesday that he doesn't live in the 6th District right now because he's living near Emory University to support his girlfriend. That means he won't be able to vote for himself.
"I grew up in this district, I grew up in this community. I've been living with my girlfriend Alicia of 12 years down by Emory University where she's a full-time medical student," Ossoff said, "and as soon as she completes her medical training, I'll be back up the street 10 minutes in the district where I grew up but I want to support her in her career and do right by her."

Ossoff is leading the polls for Tuesday's election, but needs to clear 50 percent in order to avoid a runoff election. While Ossoff is the leading candidate, the combination of Republican candidates has a higher percentage than Democrats in the district.
The district has been reliably Republican in the past, but only went for President Trump by 1 percent.
The special election to replace Price, now the secretary of health and human services, is one of a few special elections widely seen as a referendum n the early months of President Trump's presidency.
This guy is also being financial supported (millions) by Dems around the country. He still couldn't win outright even with all those Dems with no horse in this race sending all their money.
Carpetbagger. Like Hillary was in NY. Ran on the same platform. Which was no platform other than he is anti-Trump. Oh well, his smugness will be his downfall.

The GOP is doing the same thing with the Republican candidates.
I can't find anything about the Republican candidate receiving millions from Reps outside of Georgia. Endorsements yes. Money no. Can you tell me where you saw that?

No need to show me. I just wondered where you'd seen it because I tried to find some numbers for it on line but there's nothing to be found. Well at least not that I could find.

I wonder if that is the news is focused on the loss only.

However I can see how a PAC is has interests in every election. NRA and PP are always going to be interested in state elections as well as stacking the house and senate.
Also reading this:
Handel, the leading Republican candidate in the crowded special election field, has benefitted from more than $1 million spent by conservative super PACs to boost her.
PAC's get give directly or coordinate with a campaign but the can promote it.
Karen Handel is well known around here. I hope the name recognition will help her in the run-off. Hey, I live in a different district in Georgia - if he can live in a different district, why can't I vote in a different one?

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
I thought you had to live in the district to represent it. Is that not so?
Nope.
I would think there would be downsides if it were a requirement. Challenges on imposing additional requirements not spelled out in the Constitution. A state controlling party gerrymandering district lines to move an incumbent out of the district.
If the people local to the district do not want him/her the can vote that way.
I don't know about being required to live in the district you run in. I could see a requirement to be no further than one district away. It's possible to live in one place and have your non-governmental employment in another.
Then, because of that, I also see merit in the idea of being allowed to register and vote based on either criteria as well. Still only getting ONE vote though.
