I can't find a link to it right now, but just heard on the radio that Tennessee will be the first state to offer free Community College to adults!

Ohfour is going back to school!

G and I have been talking about this for a very long time.  This just kinda seals it, you know?  I'm going pre-law.  I have wanted to be a lawyer since I can remember.  But I threw that away for a boy at 17.  I am at the perfect (yet LATE) place in my life to pursue this.  Not too old, yet, no responsibilities.   So, there is really nothing standing in my way.

My father was 50 when he got his degree.  He was the oldest in his class.  My brother had a 74 year old multi-millionaire (Mary Elizabeth La Fetra, the CEO for Rainbird) in his class.  She majored in history.  I commented to my grandmother she was probably "there" during a lot of what she was studying.  LOL  It was just something she wanted to do.  She received a standing ovation. (And passed away 6 short years later).  She was described as a life-long learner.

I was 32 when I graduated from law school.  I went at night, for 4 years.  (There was a law in Cali that required completion within 5 years or less).  It was a lot the first year, but gradually got easier and less of a load.

I say this is wonderful, go for it.

I'm kind of curious how they will pay for it and wonder if there are any exclusions, like only for High School graduates from Tennessee schools or something (eliminating people that graduated high school in a different state from accessing the program, regardless of any gap between graduation and when they would register).

If you are eligible though, good luck!

You have to have been a TN resident for a year and have a HS diploma or a GED (from anywhere). You have to take a certain amount of hours and keep a 2.0.

Thats all! Its open to pretty much everyone!!!!!
