So on the Coconut oil thread FNW mentioned she uses coconut oil on her face as a moisturizer and that it is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. As I've mentioned, I have rosacea. My Dermatologist told me years ago that it is a fungus. So since I am out of my lotion I decided to try the coconut oil. Well after a few days of using coconut oil the break out is going away. I don't know if it is coincidence or if the coconut oil is helping. At any rate, I am thrilled that the outbreak is going away. I will continue to use the coconut oil and see if it keeps the out breaks away.
So what everyday non medical remedies do you know of that work for ailments?

Actually, I use olive oil on my face at night to remove my makeup and wash up. My breakouts are few and far between. I've been using it for several years. Also, every other day or so I add a drop of frankincense oil in my moisturizer I apply in the morning.
So happy to hear the coconut oil is working! Isn't it amazing to find something to replace pharmaceuticals!
I have been experimenting with essential oils. I by no means think they are a magic cure all, but I've had some good results. The best so far has been Copaiba oil. I use it for sore muscles and joints. It works pretty well for my minor aches and pains.
Coconut oil is good for getting your hair to grow and eyelashes to grow. Now that I am officially off chemo, I am hoping my hair will start growing again. Gonna stock up on it!

It doesn't really help you hair grow. It can help keep existing hair healthy which means less breakage which can appear to make hair seem like its longer. If it really helped hair grown from scratch every bald man with be slathered with the stuff.
2-3 drops of peppermint oil in plain old water, gargle to sooth sore throat.
Splinter you can't get out? Scrap a raw potato, get a good bit of juice, mix with bacon fat til you get a good, thick paste. Put on splinter, cover with a bandaid. It'll pull the splinter out usually over night.
Honey can be used to treat cuts until you can get to something better. It's also antibacterial, and can help heal, and coat, a sore throat.
Aloe juice stops heart burn, the gel soothes burns and can be used as gelling agent in foods.
White vinegar, if you can stand the smell, will help soothe bad sun burns, can be used to stop skin rash itchiness on people and dogs.
In emergancies, really bad wounds can be treated with salt, it acts as both antibacterial and helps in clotting.
Chewing tobacco, moistened, can pull a bee sting out.

My mom has always had chronic sinus infections/headaches/migraines and she recently started mixing a shot of apple cider vinegar into a small cup of warm water to drink and she noticed an almost immediate and extreme improvement. She was doing it once a day, but now only does it a few times a week.
