Curious.

What's your favorite road trip snack?

Time passer?

Must do?

Pringles are a must for us. Everything else is whatever is on hand.

Good music is a must. We sing along. I also read when I am a passenger.

Neck pillow is also a must. A crooked neck sucks.

Pretzels kept me awake and alive on my road trip from WA to AZ to TX and back to WA. And I don't even like pretzels all that much.

Definitely pretzels! Then, maybe chips! I know, horrible diet but, it's a road trip! Drinks? Water, occasionally a soda if I can find a fountain soda rather than can or bottle. Music is a must but it has to be the classic rock variety. For me, must do is traveling the back roads, not the highways. There is soooo much more to see on the back roads. Like these little gems . . .

Water. Other than that, I really don't snack. When I drove across the country to move, mom brought banana nut bread (my grandfather made me a loaf for the road, so it was special) and nacho cheese Doritos. But that was the only time I can remember snacking on the road. I get really thirsty, so I need water.

My in-laws used to show up with a cooler filled with food they eat/ate on the road. For a friggin 3 hour drive. I don't see the need, really.

For a few hr drive? I don't take anything but coffee. I can last that long. 4-5hrs, I stop at TH or something for a quick whatever if I get hungry. The only time I take food for a 4-5hr trip is going up the canyon. If you get stuck there (mud/snow/land/rock slide, accident, brushfire, whatever) there is no telling when they will be able to get you out. You kind of just settle in for the long-haul.

3-4 hours, nothing usually. If I have to stop for a bathroom break, I might get a drink, a bag of or a small candy.

Over 6 hours, I bring drinks, a bag of Gardettos, some gum or hard candies like Jolly Ranchers.

I'll stop at mealtime rather than snack on the road.

Me too. I usually get on the road, at the butt crack of dawn.

So, I take an iced coffee with me.

I usually bring a small cooler with water, if the drive is over 12 hours.

I stop at mealtime. And force myself to stop driving, and walk around for a little bit.

I don't bring snacks.

I force myself to stop, and take a break.

(I've been known to drive 19 hours in a day, as the only driver. I will never do that again.)

Nope.

12 to 13 hours, is what I can do, in my old age.wink

We drove 12 or 13 the first day going across the country but toned it down to 10 the rest of the days.

Officially it takes only 7 hours and 29 minutes to drive from our house to Myrtle Beach. Depending on traffic.

But, between bathroom breaks, and gas stops, that can easily stretch to 9 hours.

Stopping for food adds another 1 to 2 hours.

So we take snacks.

At my age, we stop every two hours regardless of how long the road trip is supposed to be. LOL!

Sometimes, we stop every 30 minutes.

Mornings are the worst for me...cry

Coffee, chips, candy, donuts, nuts, anything that can be consumed. wink

When my brother and I did our 9 hour road trip, he ate continually. He is not overweight, darn him! Man, he can pack the junk food away.

You could not travel with my DH. He HATES to stop. He's a "get from point A to point B as fast as you can" kind of guy. If he travels alone, he won't eat or drink at all so he doesn't have to use the restroom. With the kids, he has to be better, but it's still a battle sometimes.

That use to be my dad, stopping only when absolutely necessary.

But then he had to start taking water pills.

Now, he has stop more often than anyone.
