IMHO I myself would avoid the ones close to Jackson Hole. They tend to be *fake* and over the top, and $$$$$ for not much.

Dude ranches sound both fun and strange.

Spent most my childhood at one or the other grandparents' on weekends and in the summers, we rode and worked the animals there.

But they have always looked fun on tv.

We spent a couple days at the Ranch at Ucross in WY years ago and loved it! Thought it would be fun for the boys, but really don't think we could do a whole week. I think next year we will go some place that is new to all of us so we're planning a road trip starting in Vegas up to Zion and Bryce then down to the North Rim. May see if we can swing down to Prescott to visit my aunt. Might do WY the following year. The boys are getting older and should see the parks.
