When did school get out? I almost like the idea of going back early if it meant getting out earlier. I would rather take a summer vacation when the weather wasn't so stinking hot.
Raining here. Supposed to get lots of it. I have to run to the store later. I ran out of flour. And I need to pick up my contacts. A friend of DH's is in town for a baseball game, so he'll be meeting him at a pub for drinks this afternoon. I think the game will be rained out.
School gets out the Thursday or Friday before Memorial Day. This is considered year round schooling. We'll get a week off in October, a whole week for Thanksgiving, 2.5 weeks at Christmas/New Year's, a week in February, and a week in April. This stretch from here until October will be their longest without a break (except 1 day for Labor Day).

That sounds really nice. Do y'all enjoy this schedule for school?

The kids love getting weeks off here and there, but when they are little, it's a pain when both parents work. Now, DD13 is old enough to babysit, so it makes it easier. But I miss having August off. August is my favorite month in Michigan and we never get to go back then.

My goodness that's early! I remember starting
the Wednesday after Labor Day, and getting
out late June - 24-26th - with only a week at
Christmas/New Year's, and there was no such
thing as Spring Break!
Hah! I caught the lawn guys here today. They have not been mowing inside the fence, even though we've been keeping the dog inside during the summer (it's too hot). They are supposed to mow it if the dog is not outside. So, they are eating their lunch out front, and I went and told them the dog is in so when they are done, please mow inside the fence!

I'm not sure how I would feel about year around school. Summer vacations are a joy, but since we both work, they end up in camp so I guess I don't know the difference.
I am so relieved not having to deal with back to school anything.

I figured up and I did carpool for 19 years. They were in the same school for only 2 years. For a while they were each in a different school.
I feel like I'm saving money just on gas alone.
And thank you.
