We were at the club last night for dinner and they had brochures on this and apparently there are etiquette classes held at our club once a week then a ball at the end of the season. (It's for 6th and 7th graders). I think it's a great thing (but I have quite a few family members who did it) but I didn't realize this was still being done. Does anyone else have any experience with this? The boys are dreading the idea of having to dance with girls. LOL
I don't know but I like the idea with it being after etiquette classes. I would love dd to take some. Although at this point she would roll her eyes at the mere suggestion.

I like the idea as well. According to the brochure, the kids will learn rules of property telephone courtesy; acknowledgement of gifts; instructions; receiving lines; participating in group settings; polite conversations; paying and receiving compliments; sports etiquette; first impressions; dress code for all occasions; manners in the home and in public; table manners; formal place settings (stiles of dining including American, Asian, and Continental); skills involved in being a guest, hostess or host; and other areas of social behavior. They'll learn the Foxtrot, Shag Swing, Waltz, and Cha Cha, and current line dances. (They would like the line dancing).
I suspect the boys will be kicking and screaming when the time comes....
