California State Bar to lower passing score
Permalink

The Cali State Bar is contemplating lowering the passing score.  Apparently they want to allow for a more diverse group of lawyers.  What idiots.  They asked me to complete a survey on the subject.  Of course, they wanted to know "what gender do you identify as."    I can't wait to retire so I can go inactive.

If you "feel" like you passed that should be enough.

BAWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!  I would not be surprised if it came to that.

I just heard they want to allow illegals to become attorneys, which is why they want to lower the bar, literally.

Just remove the bar exam all together. You graduated and have the degree so that's it.

I do wish reciprocity among the states was available. The Cali exam is second most difficult to pass in the nation, yet if I were to practice in a different state, I'd have to sit for them exam as well. The only section I would not have to repeat is the multi-state portion.

I think you can move to Michigan.  If you have been licensed for 5 years in good standing, practicing for 3 and intend to practice in Michigan, they will allow you to.

Here's an article and chart.  There are states that will let you in without the bar exam.

I seem to remember there was a major problem back when standards were lowered for those that wanted to qualify for buying a home. I wonder what the eventual repercussions would be if they do the same for the bar.

Interesting.

Whatever happened to raising the standard? We've all seen what lowering the standards in business and education does to society. This will be just one more nail in the coffin of this country. Why is it that we have to lower the standard to accommodate rather than expecting those individuals to work harder to accomplish getting in to the bar?

Right? And Georgetown wants to remove the LSAT requirement for law school admission.
