I really enjoy going to concerts and love hearing live music.  However more and more we have to be lectured by these stars during their concerts.  So, it really makes me think twice now before I drop my money to go.  A friend of mine wants to go see Pink.  Not sure I want to get a lecture on animal rights.  I love her music and she's a great singer.

I hear you. I remember at the end of the Circus we got a speech on animal rights. Blah. It was bad enough PITA ran Ringling Bros. out on a rail but do we really need to hear about it when we pay for entertainment? Performers prey on captive audiences.

I mean, I expect all these celebs to be flaming liberals. Fine. But, you aren't going to tell me how to vote, etc.

Entertainment is supposed to be an escape from your troubles, and all the issues. That is what all these celebrities have forgotten.

They may have forgotten but then it's up to us to remind them . . . through their pockets! If I were at a concert and the entertainer started spouting off about his issues politically or otherwise, I'd be out of my seat and screaming at him / her to perform. Or we could go back to the days of taking rotten tomatoes with us and throw at them like they used to do to a bad act.

Honestly, I just don't enjoy concerts anymore for a variety of reasons, at least not large venues. I prefer small venues and shorter show times. If any performer started spouting his/her views on political or other issues I think I would walk out. I wouldn't create a scene but am also not going to allow someone to hold me hostage while they are on their soapbox.

I never cared for live music and concerts. Now I'm even less inclined to go

I loved concerts, was always going to one.

But I guess I'm old now.

Sometimes I can't even hear what they are saying or singing cause it's all so loud.

The last concert I went to was Ozzy in 93.

I didn't go to concerts in my younger days but now I've been to a few. I've seen James Taylor, Jackson brown, Michael buble, aero speed wagon, journey, eagles and Elton John. My two favorites were Elton John and the Eagles. Not one of them said anything political.

The last concert I went to was the Eagles a few years ago. It was beyond awesome. But, with the price of concerts in the last 20+ years, it's hard to be able to afford to go. I remember in my youth, you could go see groups like Chicago, Doobie Brothers, etc. for $20 or less and get a free high just by being in the arena! hahaha

We saw Yes the other night. The ARW version with Jon Anderson. No politics in sight. And we are seeing the Moody Blues Anniversary show in January. I'm sure it will be the same.
Can't wait!

Although we didn't go this year, DH & I usually like to go to Wolftrap in the summer and sit out on the lawn with a picnic and bottle of wine. We have seen Travis Tritt, Trisha Yearwood, Donna Summer, and Mary Chapin Carpenter. I like girl singers better, too. DH is a big Billy Joel fan so we saw him, too. And my true love is Rod Stewart so we saw him a few years ago when he toured with Stevie Nicks. I cannot recall politics at any concert I have attended.

Mary, years ago the son of a friend was mixing an album with his band at Indigo Ranch in Malibu. The ranch was built for the Moody Blues and used by some pretty famous artists. There were living quarters on the property and a pretty cool mixing studio. I drove my friend up and we spent the day on the property, which had a pretty spectacular view as it was nestled high up on a hill. I understand the place has since burned down but at the time there was some pretty interesting history and memorabilia (platinum albums, etc.)

The singer in my husband's band is UBER liberal. He preaches...G just walks quietly to the side of the stage. Sometimes, he will stick a finger in his mouth like he is gagging...it's hilarious...

Oh, and BTW, (SORRY! It's one of my huge pet peeves) it's Eagles. Not "The" Eagles...

Given that I didn't capitalize the "the" before their name and I did capitalize Eagles, I assumed most people would realize that the "the" was NOT part of their name. *scratches head puzzled*
