CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA — A black man who was beaten at the "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville in August now faces a felony charge in relation to the attack that occurred in a parking garage, according to media reports. The warrant was issued by a local magistrate on Monday for unlawful wounding.
The man, DeAndre Shakur Harris, suffered a head injury and had a broken wrist after the attack, which was caught on video and widely shared. The Daily Progress reported that two people were charged in the assault. Two men, 18-year-old Daniel Borden, of Mason, Ohio, and 33-year-old Alex Michael Ramos, of Jackson, Georgia, were charged in the assault on Harris.
The warrant for Harris was issued after an accusation that he attacked someone, leading to the assault inside the garage, according to The Daily Progress. The local magistrate who issued the warrant had a police detective verify the account.

"Once Harris is arrested and taken in to custody an update to this media release will be sent out," Charlottesville police said in a statement provided to NBC29.
Video of the assault showed Harris being kicked and beaten with poles. A photo posted to a GoFundMe page set up to pay for medical expenses showed Harris' head bloodied from the assault.
S. Lee Merritt, a civil attorney for Harris, told The Washington Post his client would turn himself in to police.
The rally in August was organized by Jason Kessler and attracted one of the largest gatherings of neo-Nazis and white supremacists in recent history. The rally quickly turned violent, leaving 32-year-old Heather Heyer dead and injuring several others.
