I have a pot of turkey stock simmering on the stove. Going to the grocery store later. I have a few new recipes I want to try put this weekend, see if they will work for Thanksgiving. Other than that, just cleaning and more prep work.

It's gray and rainy here, perfect day to spend in the kitchen.

I haven't bought the Tday food yet. I can't get motivated. I will, probably Monday. I'm taking Monday off because it's my birthday.

I have the typical errands to do today then off to my brother's. Mom will be there. Bro and his family and Mom are going to the west coast for the week.

Good morning! Hope the day finds you well and smiling.

Currently, it's 37* and aPzElQsUUBBWmonF0gJX.gif. The rain will be sticking around for the day according to the doppler radar I saw online. Looks like quite the front coming through. I'm grateful the temp isn't lower or we'd be having ice / snow but it's pouring. I was planning to do some grocery shopping after work last night but decided I'd wait until today. Guess not. I'm not in the mood to do the running around in the rain. So, tomorrow's another day; unless it stops raining.

I slept in today; didn't wake up until 9:00. UGH! Enjoying my cuppa, looking around and trying to figure out where to start in here today. I already got out the living room curtains. Had to measure them to see if I had to alter them for the french doors. I was excited to find out they are the perfect length. No hemming / sewing needed. CNRMRpCcFxJRdgIXcIse.gif One less thing I have to do. JgjAXnaUmhayjsbJjbHo.gif Unfortunately I can't say the same for the dining room drapes.

I'm planning to get the china / crystal back in the hutch today and to push the living room furniture around to see how I can make it work. The "french doors" in the living room are awesome for letting lots of light in. Only one of the doors actually opens. Unfortunately it's the one on the left. If it were the one on the right, I could get the living room furniture to work easier. I know there has to be a way to make this all work so it's appealing visually and functional at the same time. I'm determined to figure it out.

That's about it for my day. I'm thinking of what I want to make for supper tonight. Since I don't have to work, I can cook something good. Perhaps I'll simmer some tomato sauce and make veal or chicken parm tonight. XFa3qdVv7vi0a1Rb3pvK.gif Man, it is REALLY POURING now.

Have a great day! aLsZajCd0sdMBrkIfUsQ.gif

Gotta do a lot of prep work for tomorrow. Our
community association has been planning a
"Feast of Sharing" since July, but with recent
events, we expect about 4 times the number
of people to show up. We've all been using the
"buy-one, get-one" ham and turkey sales, and
have received lots of donations. I'm going to
make my Spinach Hater's casserole - times ten!

Overcast and dreary - perfect day to stay inside
and do some much needed cleaning.

FS - Why does only one of the doors open?

I thought the point of French doors was to have both be able to open.

Good question, Chef. I was wondering the same thing. I can only assume that it's because the one that doesn't open is at the narrow corner of the balcony. However, if it opened from the right hand side, it wouldn't impede access to the balcony at all. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to get the door to open and make it accessible to the balcony but I'm thinking they installed it so it's permanently closed. UGH! It's great for all the light it lets in but a PITA not having it usable.

Shouldn't be too hard to figure out how to get it open. Unless it's a faux door and not truly French doors.

Maybe it's as simple as someone painting over the space between the door and the frame.

FS ~
Are there hinges where the door meets
the frame? If so, maybe its just been
painted over so many times it's as good
as glued! Are there any indications at
the top or bottom where a vertical
"tongue" would secure the door to the
frame?

WTH??? I go out to dinner, gone 5 hours or so. Even had the neighbor come in and feed the dog. And he peed in the house. He didn't need to, he did it because he was mad at me.

Well, upon further inspection, I THINK it's a faux door. Oh well. After pushing the living room furniture around in four or five different scenarios, it's done! It's not perfect but it's the best I can do with the windows, angles, etc. the room has. I'm happy with it and that's all that matters.

I've soaked in a hot bath and am now relaxing a bit before heading to bed. Planning to get up early, pick up a friend and head to the open air market for donuts and then off to breakfast. I'm hoping to get some of the curtains hung (at least in the living room). I hate having the lights on and no drapes since people can walk by and see in. Have to remember to walk around naked . . . I mean NOT naked! hahaha

When I had my dog, the poor thing had separation anxiety big time. We always came home to a mess of some sort.

This is a recent development.  Grrr

Happy your new apartment is working out.  Eh the faux door?  Pretend it is a wall.

How  old is your dog? If he is old maybe it is a kidney/bladder  problem  or getting  to be a crabby  old man.

Yeah, mine didn't start out with separation anxiety. He developed it over time. Sorry you have to deal with it.

Thanks! That was the plan, to pretend it's a wall. But, it's the wrong door. If it were the one on the left it would be no problem. This one is on the right, closest to the dining room, not the one closest to the living room. It's okay. I figured it out and it's working. Hard to believe I've been here a week already. Sheesh!

He is only 6 1/2 YO. He has become very needy lately and extremely particular.  I don't get it.  Could be he is mad because he didn't get a long walk today.  But grrrr. I may have to pay a kid in the 'hood to walk him on days I am too busy.

Husband just pointed out to me that the shampoo that I purchased and have been using has a brand name of Tio Nacho.
1. How did I not ever notice this??
2. That is hilarious.

Tang, Tio Nacho? Is that the royal jelly one? It always sound sex like a bad anime porn title to me.

IKWTDS, we put Monster in the hall bathroom if we are going to be gone more than an hour or two. That way if he does make a mess, it's contained to the tile floor.

I'd take him to the vet.  There might be something wrong with him which is why he is doing that.  A personality change in a dog should be checked.
