I feel ya, FS. It was about 4 when I forced my eyes shut, been up twice since then.
I'll be napping later.

This ----> will be us later! I need to get ready to go for breakfast and I sure don't want to. It is SUPER windy out this morning. I don't like being out when it's windy.
FS you must have a lot on your mind. Sleep away this rainy Sunday.
Braggart!
Yep, I knew I had enough curtains for the one living room window but could only find one panel. It was driving me nuts not to know where the other panel was. I found it around 1:15 but still couldn't get back to sleep. UGH!
It's windy here as well but seems to be dying down now. We have a surprise birthday party to attend this afternoon up in PA. I'm looking forward to seeing a few of my friends there.
It's so windy the basketball hoop fell. Fortunately nothing broke. Does anyone have any suggestions about that? We have stuff in the base which is supposed to be heavy enough to keep this from happening. Does anyone just put theirs down when wind is expected? What say you!
I am doing more recipe testing for thanksgiving. I made a very yummy cream of mushroom soup to use for green bean casserole. I need to tweak the consistency. It's a good soup right now, but I need it thicker for the casserole. Off to the store for more ingredients.
My goal these days is to cut out as much unnecessary sodium as possible. With his heart issues, dad doesn't need that stuff. So that knocks out most canned or prepared ingredients. Hence yesterday's broth making and today's soup adventures.

We had one, the base was filled with sand and water, but it would still fall in a good wind. So we just layed it down when it wasn't being used.

It's colder today than yesterday, but the sun is out.
Happy Sunday.

Add flour. Does the boy need more bags for the that thing I gave him for sealing meat?

I am going to adjust the amount of liquid I start with. Adding too much additional flour can adversely effect the taste.

No, he’s good on bags.
Well if I don't get ideas soon from him, he is getting coal and cash.

Meanwhile, I think I made a bad decision. I'm boiling cabbage, love boiled cabbage, but the house smells like a fart.

We went to my friend's surprise birthday party. It was fun. A couple old friends of mine were there. I don't think I'd seen them in years. It was fun catching up, although we are on FB together so we pretty much know what's going on. But we got to talk about people, which is always fun! LOL
LOL, Lily! Cabbage will do that. And just when the smell dissipates from the boiling of it, real farts, also from eating the cabbage, will start stinking up the place. hahahaha
For the second batch of soup, I halved the amount of broth the recipe called for and it turned out perfect. This version of green bean casserole has been approved for addition to the thanksgiving menu.
We served over 250 plates for today's "Feast
of Sharing", not counting teens and children!
And our town is only 400! We had oodles and
oodles of leftovers, especially the jalapeno
biscuits, so we brought out the zip-top baggies,
and sent some home with all of the guests.
We're all tired; my feet are barking at my
swollen ankles, and I'm too sore/tired to try
to lie down, but it was a very, very successful
day.

OMG Moma, you are one tireless angel to people. You are good people.

I know it's only been a short while, but how are people doing?

Went to breakfast with a friend, stopped and got some of my favorite donuts, stopped at the store and came home. Didn't get everything I wanted at the store but there's still time before T-day.
I was going to try to take a nap but, it never happened. A burst of energy hit and I got the living room drapes hung over the french door. Now, when I turn on the lights, no one can see in! I started the window and got the valance done but then the battery died in my drill so the bottom part of the window isn't done yet. The backup battery wasn't charged either so I'm stuck until tomorrow. I'm always amazed at the difference having drapes hung makes in a home. It's all starting to take shape now. But, there is still soooooooo much to do yet.
Had a bowl of chicken noodle soup for dinner tonight. Soon it'll be time for another another donut! Hopefully I'll actually get some sleep tonight. For now, I'm just chillin' in my chair and watched a movie with Russell Crowe called, "The Next Three Days". Never even heard of it before but it's a good one.
Hope everyone's had an awesome day!

Lily ~
We are doing amazingly well. There are at
least five (if not more) professional organizations
offering counseling help for anyone impacted in
any way.
One of my renters was working at the Valero gas
station (one block away from the church), and
heard all of the shots, then saw a man running
towards the store, bloodied and limping. Hers was
one of the first 9-1-1 calls made that day. She's
having difficulty sleeping, but has improved enough
to be able to help today serving ham and turkey.
We're not through with all the funerals yet, but
once that task is over, we'll work towards getting
our lives in some semblance of order.
I'm just amazed at the out-pouring of love and
help from the neighboring communities. People
who make T-shirts saying "Sutherland Springs
Strong" with the shape of Texas where the "O"
should be, and a heart or a cross at the location
of Sutherland Springs are NOT gouging outlandish
prices - $10 each, which is what you would pay for
a typical plain T-shirt in Wal-Mart.
Keller-Williams, a large real estate presence in San
Antonio has a work day every spring, and they have
asked if they can help the Church when they start
rebuilding. That's about 600 workers! A quilting
group in Fredericksburg (100 miles away) is making
quilts for all the families.
"Food Trains" have been set up for all the victims still
in hospitals, so that their family members can have a
meal that doesn't come out of a vending machine.
There are groups of people taking care of all the animals
of the families, and there is more than enough food
for the animals.
We'll get through this, with neighbor helping neighbor.
Well, good, I'm glad ya'll are helping each other.
It's still just so unbelievable.
