Brother will be here tomorrow night, with his two dogs.
Nephew and niece may or may not show up.
Brat cousin is bringing her 2 brat kids and weird husband.
Mom bought sweet potato tater tots because she couldn't find the sweet potato patty hockey pucks and simply refuses to make regular sweet potatoes.
Yeah.

At least you will have some stories to share with the geeks liliy☺. Cooking Turkey, cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes, gravyand green beans. Dil is providing a pumpkin cheesecake.
We are making turkey, roast (for those who don't like turkey), green beans, pinto beans, Cole slaw, cornbread dressing, dumplings, mashed potatoes, deviled eggs, and sweet potato tator tots.
I'm making a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, and peanut butter cookies.
Then what ever the guests bring.
We always have way too much food.

I'm getting off easy this year. DH wants it to
be just the two of us - fine with me! He wants
to make his personal version of the ubiquitous
green bean casserole - we'll see how that turns
out. The ham he picked out is fully cooked, so
all I have to do is glaze &heat it. Fresh mashed
potatoes, with lots of butter and cream (might
substitute 1/2 & 1/2 if I can get away with it,
but we'll see.
I'll also make my brother-in-law's pecan pie,
with pecans I harvested from our few trees.
He added applesauce, and it cuts the sweetness
of the sugar and syrup. I might try to get DH
to try some salad - with the last of our fall
tomatoes.
No family to deal with this year. But have been listening to this friend or that complaining about that uncle/cousin __________ insert relative name here.

It will be me, DH, our 3 kids and our sons' girlfriends, so 7 of us. DS2's girlfriend has a lot of food allergies. She can't eat turkey. Hate pumpkin pie, is allergic to a multitude of foods. And she can eat chicken but is pretty vague about other stuff. I finally nailed her down and she can eat ham, baked carrots and sweet potatoes. She can eat mashed potatoes but can't eat black pepper and i tend to pepper pretty much everything so will have to watch that, lol. She is an awesome gal but is having some skin issues i guess and had the full allergy testing so it is what it is.
My father is diabetic but I still serve desserts. He just eats in moderation or prepares in advance by watching other things.
I'm cooking turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce. DH is making the gravy. Mom is bringing rolls and ice cream to go with the pies. I placed my pie order for mincemeat and pumpkin from the Pie Gourmet. I am #200 when I go pick them up.
SIL is arriving Friday. I will be serving leftovers. Saturday night we might go out, as I'll be pretty much turkey'd out. #1 doesn't like anything I'm making so he will be one hungry little dude. Oh well. (He will eat the green beans and rolls and probably a little turkey but he's just letting me know he is grateful but not for the food.) #1 is going to be "that" relative at holiday parties, I suspect.
Market Basket is a New England chain. Its the chain that was highlighted a few years ago. The two cousins who own the business were dueling it out in court. The employees and customers took things into their own hands and pushed out the bully cousin. It is the largest privately owned company in the US.

All the shopping is done! Cooking starts tomorrow. I’m hosting this year for the whole family. I’m making turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole (I have to fry my own onions-never tried it before, I hope they turn out well), a cranberry goat cheese cheese ball, Brussels sprouts au gratin, and chocolate and pumpkin pies. And stuffed celery and mixed nuts and a couple bottles of wine.
Then we will eat leftovers for a week! I can hardly wait. And I get to make turkey hash this year since I will have the turkey bones to make broth.
ETA: Also, homemade cranberry sauce and turkey gravy. And crescent rolls.

We will make turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes, I am going to make a green bean casserole (HAVE never made or eaten one, so we shall see) deviled eggs, veggie tray, homemade rolls, homemade pumpkin and chocolate peanut butter pies.

I wish I could convince myself and others to go to a restaurant, but I'm just not there yet. We do eat out on Easter. I also wish I could convince my mother to go out Christmas Eve. It's her birthday, and we used to do that every year, when they still lived in Cali. Now that she's back here, she insists on cooking. I used to have it, but once the boys got older she felt I should have Christmas Day so the boys don't have to leave their new toys. Personally, I would rather go out Christmas Eve and go to her house Christmas Day. Whatever new toys or games the boys get they can bring with them, IMO. Maybe I'll suggest that and see if she's up for it.
IKWTDS, there is a diabetic banana pudding that is good, you'll have to Google the recipe.
There will be around 25 people here Thursday. I just hope it's nice enough to use the outdoor space, too. It's nice when people can go outside.

I thought thanksgiving was going to be miserable because we were going to his mom's but those plans feel through. Now, thanksgiving is going to be EXTRA miserable because FIL had invited himself. I cannot stand to be around that man. Looks like I'll be working all weekend to get away.

Was it a bad day?
Or was it a bad five minutes that you milked all day?
I understand wanting to go out for Thanksgiving dinner, I've entertained the idea myself, but I hated working holidays.
Of course there are those who prefer it.

We’re doing the basics: a roasted and deep fried turkey Cornbread stuffing with onion, celery and dried cranberries Sweet potato au gratin (with cinnamon sticky bun sauce, butter and cream) Lemony mashed red skin potatoes Roasted garlic balsamic green beans with bacon and toasted pecans Pumpkin pie, the recipe on the Libby can,, always turns out great and I use truvia. Don’t tell anyone! Apple pie dump cake with ice cream and cool whip
I’m gonna make a spicy herb cream cheese log with cranberry relish for and appetizer
I can only eat a few bites at a time but I can go back later that night and nibble at my plate. It’s probably a good thing that I can only eat small amounts in a sitting lol.
I may make the cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie tonight 😀

Why is FIL allowed to visit?

I'm cooking, and although Paul has to work, he has the 7am to 3pm. shift...so dinner around 4:30! Yay!
I already have my bread cubed for my stuffing.
Tomorrow morning I'll bake my pumpkin pies, chop the celery, onion, and mushrooms for the stuffing, and get the mashed potatoes and sweet potatoes made.
That way, on Thursday I'll just have to make the stuffing and get the bird going. Corn pudding is easy and the broccoli casserole is easy. I can make them after the bird is in the oven.
Cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, gravy and whipped cream for the pies can be done on Thursday, too.
My only bummer was getting grief from my Mom, because we're not going to my sister's house in Columbus for the holiday.
It's not that easy to get away, when you have 7 cats and a dog.
I wasn't about to go alone, and leave my crew to starve.
So, it will just be the 7 of us. (Plus the fur balls!)
Baked them the day before, the day of, remove the skin, warm in a pot with butter, milk, seasonings. Cream with mixer.
I don't know why, but baking them makes a huge difference in taste.

And some sort of Cranberry Crumble for dessert. I friend of ours stopped by Saturday and dropped off this freaking AMAZING dessert. I can't even describe. So she's making me one to serve at our dinner. Which will be on Saturday. And the babies will get their Christmas PJs then!!!!
