Real pie, fake news?: White House Press Secretary accused of using a stock photo of a perfect looking pecan pie for Thanksgiving and the press pool hilariously piles on with Piegate conspiracy theories
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders shared a maybe too good to be true photo of a pecan pie she says she made for Thanksgiving
Internet conspiracy theorists jumped in saying it was a stock photo of a pie
White House correspondent April Ryan egged on the sweet debate calling on Sanders to show her cooking and people eating the said pie
In the end, Sanders never offered definitive proof of an actual pie, but she offered something rather sweet to get the press pool off her back
As if there wasn't enough 'fake news' out there, this one may just take the cake, welcome to Piegate.
Thanksgiving is the time for pies. Insert White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders who shared a photo of a perfect looking pecan pie she claims she baked for the holiday.
Sanders shared: 'I dont cook much these days, but managed this Chocolate Pecan Pie for Thanksgiving at the family farm!'
Now add in a dash of internet conspiracy theorists, who say not so fast White House mouth piece, that is a stock photo of a pie.

In fairness, by the time the trolling got to the White House press pool, a pie that looked that good would have been long gone in the Sanders family's bellies
White House correspondent April Ryan demands answers! Show us the pie Sanders!
Next add in a full cup of a frequent face in the White House press pool, April Ryan, who starts egging on the ridiculous, and curious, exchange.
Ryan tweets at Sanders: 'Show it to us on a table.' Granted, by the time Ryan gets in on the action, its now a full day later on Black Friday. If the pie tasted as good, and oddly perfect as it looked- that thing is long gone and in the Sanders family's bellies.
However, as any good journalist would do, Ryan keeps at it.
'I am not trying to be funny but folks are already saying #piegate and #fakepie Show it to us on the table with folks eating it and a pic of you cooking it. I am getting the biggest laugh out of this. I am thankful for this laugh on Black Friday!' Ryan mercilessly mocked.
Another White House press flack, Cheryl Bolen with Bloomberg, also piled on. 'No table shot @AprilDRyan but my husband’s apple pie cooling on our stovetop yesterday.'
All's well that ends with more pie. Everyone make sure next week there is an actual pie, we want photos
While the delicious ridiculousness continued- Sanders never offered up further proof of the pie being an actual pie in their Thanksgiving feast- however she did get in on the action, and things ended on a rather sweet note.
'Don’t worry @AprilDRyan because I’m nice I’ll bake one for you next week #RealPie #FakeNews.'
We may never know if Sanders did, or did not, bake that pie. If it was a stock photo- no one has found the original. It may have been just as real as everything Sanders says from the White House podium.
I made my pecan pie without corn syrup. I hate corn syrup and i won't buy products that contain it. It turned out awesome! I didn't have another pie pan so i used my square dish.
Guess Ryan didn't have anything better to do Thanksgiving.

HAHAHA. This hits home. I bought my pies from the Pie Gourmet. I had planned on photographing the mincemeat pie and put it up on facebook with the following comments, "my first mincemeat pie. I think it came out pretty good." It was a beautiful pie. Unfortunately, we carved into it before I could take a pic. Never saying I made it, and it was the first mincemeat pie I have ever tried, the comment would give the impression I may have made it. LOL
I mean, who cares. This is a nonstory, but I find it funny.
