DSS31 had two best friends growing up who we considered our sons too.  We are closer to Mike than we are to Devin.  Mike was always with us on the weekends, vacation, where ever we went, Mike was usually there.  His mother trusted us implictly and always knew Mike was safe with us.

Mike finally brought home a girl, Jessica, this summer for us to meet.  She was truly his other half.  We fell in love with her too.  She was just as quirky as Mike.  I really hit it off with her.

Today, Mike posted on Facebook that she passed away.  I do not know any more details than that.

My heart hurts so much for him and for her.

I have exchanged some messages with Mike letting him know we are here for whatever he needs. I told him he can come here or we can go there.

I did not ask what happened. He will tell us when he is ready. I know she had some health issues but nothing that I thought was serious.

Finally home after the services and going out afterwards. It was a very nice celebration.

Unforunately, it was an overdose and not a health issue. And on Thanksgiving day.
