Ok - so NORMALLY, I'm not in favor of too much government regulation. I'm a free market kind of gal. But when it comes to internet and cable....well, there's just really not a free market. Some places don't even have access to high speed internet, many places one of the big companies have a monopoly. People are at the mercy these companies, who SUCK, by the way - cable and internet providers consistently have the worst customer service.
In this day and age, cable and internet are more like utilities. Our tax dollars support their infrastructure. They need to be regulated because so many DO have monopolies where they are located. Of course, I think a LAW needs to be passed, not just some arbitrary rules a commission makes up.

Well we will have to wait and see what happens. But think, in the days prior to O passing the regs, what issues did you experience with internet access? mine hasn't changed.

I did notice that HOC was having problems with streaming. We figured our internet was too slow and DH upgraded. Not because of that necessarily, but we were experiencing other problems as well. So he got rid of HBO since we never watched it anymore and upgraded for speed. I haven't noticed any difference, although the streaming does seem to be a little better.

Well, you and I live in pretty dense areas. But, I do not have choice when it comes to internet, and I had to pay more for faster internet. If Charter decides to do something, there is no one for me to switch to.

I remember GTE (general telephone). I wish we could just use an antenna for the local network stations and get rid of cable. But we'll still need it for internet.

I have three options. Comcast which I have now, Fairpoint, or I can get a Verizon Hot spot box through my Wireless plan on my phone.
