Been awake for about 30 minutes. I need to drag my butt out of bed and feed the cats. Going to be in the upper 50's today, then 40 tomorrow so I need to try to get my running around done. On call but I'm hoping it will be a slow day.
Up early. Just found out that a local chili
cook-off is also having a "Chocolate-off"
and a "Soup-off". I think I'll bring my
Instant Chocolate Mousse. If I have time,
I'll make Chocolate Napoleons.
Where's the coffee? I awoke to about two inches of snow this morning and it's still coming down. It's a really fine snow. It's sooooooo purdy! I love snowy days like this when I have absolutely nowhere to be or go. I can just sit here, looking out my window at the snow accumulating on the trees in the woods surrounding the property. A winter wonderland. YAY!
I'm debating if I want to start taking down the Christmas decorations or wait until New Year's day like I usually do. I'm kind of liking seeing them around the apartment and in the windows. lol I'll just be puttering around here for the day. I may make some Italian Wedding soup. Mmmmmmm good for a day like today.
That's a great idea, momala! Thanks! Since I'm not in the mood to take them down, I think I'll take you up on that suggestion.
Geez, I just looked out the window across the living room and the snow is really coming down now. We're definitely getting more than the two inches predicted. lol

You probably have all the ingredients in
your pantry for
Momala's Instant Chocolate Mousse
2 eggs 1 1/2C milk pinch salt 2T sugar
12 oz chocolate chips
Drop 2 eggs in a blender, letting the
blades puncture the yolks. Add sugar,
salt, and chips. Scald the milk (tiny
bubbles around the perimeter of the
pan, not a full boil). Pour the milk over
the chips, and blend on high for 1 full
minute. Let rest 1 minute. Fill very
small cups with mousse, and refrigerate
for at least 4 hours; longer is better.
Garnish with unsweetened whipped
cream and chocolate curls.
This is very rich and dense - a small
spoon in the middle will stay upright.
Tonight is dad's birthday party. A party he does not want. He has very clear that he does not want it. Mom is NOT listening. Mom refuses to call it off. I've told her he doesn't want it, brother has told her he doesn't want it, Caitlyn, Jesse, and Aaron has told her he doesn't want it. She simply does not care. At this point, it's all about her. Dad has said he isn't coming. If he doesn't show up, that fight is going to be epic.
Oh well, at least there will be cake.

Cake!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too cold to do anything. I did grocery shop and took the dog out. I've added many movies to my Netflix account. Am loving the cable free thing.

But, will there be a cake fight?
I hope things work out okay, Lily.
It sounds like your Mom has a hard head. (As in, cement head!) I have experience with that!
I so want to be motivated, I just can't muster it. I should be cleaning, but I know I still need to take it easy and let my body heal...ugh!!!!
Oh, honey, just take it easy.

Well, the snow stopped an hour or so ago. It totaled about 4". Then, the wind picked up; not constant but occasionally and not enough to blow it off the Wrangler dagnabit. That means at some point I'll have to go out and clean it off. I'm thinking tomorrow's another day. hahaha
I'm struggling to find something to watch that I haven't already seen even on Netflix. Any suggestions on some good movies or shows would be greatly appreciated. LOL
I've had a splinter in my finger since Thursday. Kept trying to dig it out with a needle. I finally got it! What a relief. And yes, I am that bored. Trying to myself amused, way to cold to go out. My house is almost entirely cleaned. Running out of laundry to do.

Bake something! Bake several somethings!
Then send us some.

We partied. It was nice. We have a ton of food left.
I tried to talk mom into taking it to one of the shelters, but she flat refuses. I may take it down after they leave Monday.
So tired and everything hurts.

I'm so exhausted. I woke up this morning to news that my good friend's husband died suddenly last night. We rushed over there and spent the day trying to keep everything in order as everyone stopped over and brought food and helped with arrangements and stuff.

Love those "walls", LGS! We need those south at the border!
I did three loads of laundry when we got home yesterday and I have a couple more. And I still have Christmas presents to put away. Then I'll think about taking the decorations down. Maybe next weekend. I'll leave some of the little trees with white lights up for awhile I think.

He was exactly 1 day older than me. His birthday was yesterday, and mine is today.

That hits close to home.

They are thinking pulmonary embolism, but they are not doing an autopsy. He couldn't breathe. But it could have been cardiac arrest brought on by a panic attack. He was a morbidly obese workaholic who just got some very bad news right before Christmas that he hadn't shared, yet, and was trying to process and deal with. He was diagnosed with ALS. So, in a way, and in time, we'll see this as a blessing because he won't have to suffer through that terrible disease. And now he's in heaven.
