Enjoy this last day. Still in a frozen tundra up here. A lot of First Night activities have been canceled due to the cold. I find that strange. It's been this cold on previous First Nights and activities were not canceled.

Good morning, everyone! It's 10* with a real feel of -2*. The sun's out though. lol IKWTDS, apparently people are more snowflake'ish this year and can't deal with the weather? hahaha Sorry the activities got cancelled. I'm in for the day. Other than to go clean off the Wrangler, I'm not going anywhere. Around here NYE is like amateur night.

I'm sure DD and friends love being there with you! And you don't have to worry about them either. Works all the way around.
And to think I still ski in these temps! I've got some good longies and ski clothes. lol
Merry Shoesmas! lol. I am taking DD and my sons' girlfriends out for a late breakfast, then i am going to let them each buy a pair of shoes, My treat! Starting a new tradition. They all love shoes so that's the plan today!
The morning the boys were scheduled for snowboard lessons the temps were 5 degrees. I thought they would cancel but nope, just posted some frostbite warnings and off they went. We have the gear for them which kept them toasty and actually sweaty with all the activity they engaged in. But the next day when temps were 10 degrees in the afternoon, we went tubing. I was in shock over the way some of the people were dressed. Tennis shoes, jeans, no hats. They lasted 20 minutes and were done. We went the whole two hours without so much as a chill. I just couldn't imagine stepping out without warm clothes much less engaging in snow sports in those temps.
I remember in my 20's, friends and friends of friends would pass around their snow clothes whenever they upgraded. It was never hard to find a good ski jacket, pants, & boots before heading up to the slopes. Even now when someone outgrows their gear I post it on the neighborhood group email and see if someone needs it.
The new shoe idea is a good one! We did buy the boys new shoes a couple weeks ago but I think next year we'll start that tradition!
Current temp is a brisk -15, and it's only going to get worse as the day progresses. I don't even want to know what the "real feel" is right now. To damn cold for me!

We are staying home all day today. The bitter cold is not good for us old folks. Besides, everything has been canceled for New Years activities. We will be snuggled warm in our beds at midnight anyway.

Faith isn't something that keeps bad things from happening. Faith is what helps us get through bad things when they do happen.
I just got the chicken wings marinating. DD loves this marinade. And I forgot to take the ground beef out to thaw. We are doing supreme nachos. I just took it out, no way will it thaw in time. will have to defrost in the microwave.

I talked to my PCP and he said the walkin doctor was being extremely over cautious and if I hadn't had a fever in 48 hours, I would be fine. I gave it 72 just in case, so here I go!!!!

Holy crap it's cold out! I lightly dressed and went out to clean off the wrangler and get the mail. Sheesh! My nose hairs stuck together almost as soon as I stepped outside. The good news, the snow was so light and fluffy it brushed off easily. No scraping involved. That's as much exertion as I feel like putting forth today!

Like any year in my life, 2017 has had it's trials and tribulations. Either way, it's over and a new year is almost upon us. I expect it'll be just like the rest that have come and gone. I'll have my pork and sauerkraut tomorrow, which is supposed to bring good luck. But, I do every year and every year the luck runs the other way. hahaha
If I were the type to do resolutions, I'd make one to always look forward; not back. I'd make sure to remember life is good no matter what happens because the alternative is something I'm not ready for yet. Finding the positive when I think it's not possible. Oy, and not to get too mushy ....
The church behind us just had their annual
fireworks extravaganza - 30 minutes of
professional fireworks! The pastor had to
go through classes to get a license to shoot
them off - and they were MAGNIFICENT ! !
I looked out my window about 20 minutes
before they were supposed to begin, and
what do I see but about 15 cars/trucks of
our renter's "closest" friends, lined up in
my back yard, parked on top of my lemon
trees, and blocking our view! Agggggg!!
I called, and told Renter his friends had
about 3 minutes to move their trucks so
we could see the fireworks. I guess their
parents never taught them about boundaries.
It will be interesting to see if they pay their
rent on time, tomorrow.
That reminds of the times I went to the Rose Parade. We'd get there night before, get the spot right in front, and when the parade started, aholes would try to stand in front of us.
