Two sick kids. #1 is better, but #2 didn't look as peppy as he was yesterday. It's a short day at school so I'll be leaving early to check on him.

They were good. I have a rack that I bought for the instant pot that I used so I could fry all four at the same time. The top ones seemed to be a little more cooked than the bottom ones, so I'll know next time. But everyone was happy with them. I'll do it again.

It did seem to take a long time but they were thick and slightly frozen in the center so it was understandable that they would take longer than the recipe I was following.

The receptionist is an idiot. Just as the president starts leading a web training, she decides to start shredding a bunch of stuff. Just as I got up to go close the conference room door, I heard it slam shut. Moron.

Yawn.... yeah, yeah, I know, it's afternoon already.

FNW, hope your boys are getting better.

I'm going to DS's tomorrow morning. Little man's mom has the flu. So not looking forward to possibly having a sick little one and getting it myself.

Otherwise, the weather is delightful. A beautiful day here.

Hope you all have a great day!

I've been leaving work early so my parents don't have to be exposed to the boys' virus. They are pushing 80 and I worry about what it would do to them. Ever since the boys gave my father pneumonia several years ago and we worried he wasn't going to recover. It's just not worth it, and I'm lucky enough to have sick leave on the books.

Same here. Talked to DS about it this morning. He has to work this weekend and with mom down, I'm the next best option for little man. I'm to come armed with vitamins and lots of juice. I'm taking a can of Lysol with me too. lol

I am glad you can take time off for your kids, FNW. So glad your dad recovered.

Both A and B flu bugs are in our area already. DD informed me of this information this morning. I'm going to get exposed no matter what I do or don't do at this point. It is what it is.

Take a box of masks!

Caitlyn has been battling something for 3 weeks.

Sore throat, fatigue, nausea.

It gets better over the weekends. She works at a daycare/preschool. The petri dish through the week makes it worse.

Just got back from the Dr.'s for DH.
Since being released from the hospital
ten days ago, he's been so weak he
asks me to help him get from one end
of the house to the other. Dr. took a
whole slew of vials for blood work -
she expects to have the results early
tomorrow morning. In the meantime,
she has put in orders for physical and
operational home therapy. The Visiting
Nurse will be here tomorrow morning.
That's really quick response.

Good they are taking care of him, but the tiredness would concern me.  Did they say that is normal?  Of course any medications could cause that too.

I've worked so much this week and was happy I left on time. Trying to catch up on laundry and not doing much else. I need this time. Even blowing off the Neighborhood book club tonight.

I think it works best to prevent  a cold then cures it. It is vitamin  C and I start taking  them the first thing when I hear of colds and   flu going around.

The Dr. says she's been seeing people
take as long as 14-21 days to recover
from the flu - especially if they were
hospitalized.

And they forecast that next year's flu
will be even worse.

Well. DS has now checked 'get stitches' off his bucket list. He was playing chase with another boy at the park this morning and ran head first into a pole. Gashed his forehead wide open. Gash was about a quarter inch deep. 3 layers of stitches, 9 stitches on the top layer. The gash is above his left eye (vertical, goes from eyebrow to hairline) and he has some abrasions on his left cheek.

Here's to hoping he doesn't manage to bust the stitches open. Follow up with his pediatrician next week.

Oh, and side note ... They gave him Versed to sedate him so they could stitch his head up. He was hilarious. In between counting to 10 and asking for stickers, he would try to sit up and say he's dizzy before laying back down. He was real good for the PA who stitched him up.

He's trying to be the next Evel Knievel. He's fearless. At least he didn't get a concussion or fracture his face. I wonder how bad the scar is going to be.

I could've gone the rest of my life without seeing inside his forehead and been fine.

Oh my chef 😯speedy recovery for your little man. My oldest nephew had to get stitches on his forehead too and now you can't tell it is there. Little boys are fearless.

 Good to know.

He's definitely fearless. He's had more bumps, bruises, and bangs than I count. Never from negligence. Just from his fearless and obstinate nature. When he first learned he could run, he would throw a leg up when he came to a step. Sometimes, he'd make it. Most of the time, he'd bang into the step and add yet another bruise to his leg.

He's lucky he was given something. When #2 got stitches they stuck a big needle in his underlayer, said it would numb him, but he could feel everything. I can't remember how many he got, but there were two layers of them. I think it hurt me more to watch them do it. And a few years later now, you can barely see where it had happened.

The nurse asked if I wanted to sedate him for the stitches or no. I said it'd be best to sedate him because I don't know how he'll react to getting stitches. He said ow a couple times when he was being stitched up but otherwise was too busy being corny.

Sounds like the right decision! #2 was 7 I think so he was a little older and better able to handle it. The first "numbing" needle was the worst!

I was 9-10 when I got stitches. It's a weird feeling.

I had the old, they called them cat guts, stitches.

Itched like crazy. They actually got infected and had to be removed early.

Stitches now are way better.

I've only had stitches once, aside from my upper wisdom teeth removal, and I don't remember them. I was 4 and had to have my right foot reconstructed after it nearly got amputated.

The stitches for the wisdom teeth removal mostly dissolved but some came loose and fell out. Those never itched.

I had them when I was about 3. Slipped getting out of the bath tub. I remember falling. I don't remember much about the stitches, but I do remember waking up and seeing my grandmother. So I suppose maybe they sedated me?

I was 5 yr old when I got my first stitches. Climes a chain link fence chasing a butterfly and slipped and got my hand hung on a metal prong or whatever it was sticking up on top of the fence. I remember crying and scared because I thought they were going to stick my hand under a sewing machine.

I was six. Was following my dad outside and he didn't see me. He swung the door shut and the knob hit me below the eye. That's when the lock was a little sharp thing in the middle of the knob. I ended up with two stiches.

I've had stitches a few times. Once when I was very young jumping on the bed and cracked my head open on the headboard. Another a few stitches in my elbow from road rash after we laid the bike down on gravel.

By the time I was 3, I have several broken toes and fingers. I also almost had my middle finger cut off from being slammed in the car door by my brother. It was hanging by thin piece of skin. They did manage t sew it back on with minimal damage. But I had to keep it bandaged. And I loved to wave a people with a fist. Yea, I was giving everyone the finger at age 3.

Peeps ~

Be as careful as you can. This year's flu
is especially nasty - and you can get it
more than once! Use Lysol/house brand
wipes on EVERYTHING! Especially when
you go to the store. Before you take a
cart, wipe down the handle and anything
you think fresh produce might touch. It
only takes a couple of minutes, but it is
so worth it. If the label says it kills 99.9%
of germs, use it.

Wash your hands THOROUGHLY before
you unload the dishwasher.

We love you all, and want you to be well.

The thing is, those wipes kill bacteria. The flu is a virus.

It's being reported that there is another virus spreading around that mimics the flu but is not the flu. I suspect people are coming down with that and blaming it on a no good vaccine.

Yes, the wipes help control bacteria, but we need to
prevent any "host" for the virus. After six days in the
hospital, DH is still getting help with PT and OT - 15
days after he was discharged from the hospital. We
need to prevent one another from spreading this
nasty bug. And I know, there are at least three
"bugs" going around - several of which mimic the flu.

Stay safe, my friends.
