How do you feel about In Vitro or the use of sperm banks? I have no issue if a husband and wife can't get pregnant but use her egg and his sperm to be implanted in her or a surrogate. I have a serious issue with sperm banks and women getting pregnant through the use of an unknown donor's sperm to create a life that will then go on to meet, marry, and procreate with another who just might turn out to be his/her sister/brother because another woman used the same sperm donor.
We went in vitro. We still have some frozen embryos. We thought about donating them, but didn't like the idea of us having more children "out there" somewhere. We don't want them terminated either. So we'll be paying storage fees for the rest of our lives.

I thnk the chances of marrying one's brother/sister would be extremely rare. Seems more like that dad would impregnate a neighbor the old fashioned way and then 2 kids get married.
I think for married couples having trouble conceiving, it is perfectly fine, provided they only fertilize a certain amount and then use them. I don't like the idea of creating "extra" and freezing them. Embryos stored too long are very likely to have birth defects or become completely un-viable over time. And as FNW says - how can a parent decide to terminate them? And what if the parents divorce and one wants them and one doesn't?

Sperm banks, I think it should be extremely well regulated.
But if someone wants to have a baby, and they can afford it, who am I to say they shouldn't?

Eventually, something is going to have to be done. You will die someday, and then who will pay the storage fees? And since life begins at conception - if it isn't given the chance to live, isn't that the same as abortion?
