Sorry, I just can't always come up with fancy thread names this early.

It's a warm 55, this morning. A bit humid. Scattered showers today.

Birds and frogs are singing this morning.

Someone is going to have to go to the grocery store. Bet it'll be me.

Happy Tuesday.

I see what you did there. wink

I didn't have that with the exception of my HS sweetheart. I broke up with him due to some immaturity issues I saw in him.  I admit now that i had some same issues. Wish I had stuck with him.  But no regrets because I would not have the kids I have and they are my most important gems in life.

I had that with my husband, I knew after our first  kiss on our first  date that he was the one I was going  to  marry. It took  him almost  3 years to figure  it  out .

DH and I corresponded for quite a
while. When we finally met on our
"first" date, he hugged me and
kissed me on the forehead as we
left. I knew right then and there,
we were meant for each other.

One month later, we were engaged,
and four months later we were
married. Hey! At our age, we
didn't want to wait forever !

I wonder if we ever crossed paths. I was born and raised in Costa Mesa.

Visiting my best friend in Garden Grove and my old haunts in Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, etc.

Contemplating visiting the Ruby's on Huntington Beach Pier but not sure I want to deal with PCH traffic.

I was born in Westminster, lived in Garden Grove, then moved to Fountain Valley till I got married and moved away. My family lived in Costa Mesa before I was born. It’s possible we may have crossed paths but obviously I’m a bit older then you 😊

I'm afraid the HB pier was not in use when my family & I used to go to HB at night with the cousins and have bonfires. Nor was it in use when I was in high school and used to go with my classmates to work on our tans.

Was it after the storm destroyed it sometime in the 80s ?

It was in the early 1980's, so it might have been there, but I do not recall. I do remember the pier in Balboa then there was the Santa Monica Promenade that I visited a few times in the mid 1990's.

Parking was difficult back then so when I went to Huntington we'd get there early and park in the big parking lot in front of the beach.  If the pier wasn't close by that lot, then I probably wouldn't have seen it or paid attention to it.

I moved away at that time but it made the news all the way to the Midwest of the big wave that caused a lot of damage to the pier..

I'm 35. Lived in SoCal 1983-2007. I lived in Costa Mesa most of my life then moved to Fountain Valley with my grandparents then back to Costa Mesa then Newport Beach. Rented a room in Fountain Valley for my last few months in SoCal.

Happily ensconced in AZ 2007 till when I die. Love my desert and I don't see that changing.

Hubby is completely starstruck and is looking up all sorts of celebrity stuff. He's hoping to meet a bunch of celebrities and wants to get discovered while we're out there. I keep trying to give him a reality check but he won't hear it. He's very, very much looking forward to seeing Hollywood. Methinks he's expecting to see nothing but movie studios and celebrities. He's completely enamored with the Golden Age of Hollywood. Hollywood has long since moved on from that era - which he will see when we get there. Poor guy. He's about to get really disillusioned. But, I know he'll very much enjoy seeing the graves of his favorite celebs so he'll have fun. He's made a list of everyone he wants to visit. My bestie and I will sit and catch up while he's grave hunting. He'll also get to visit one more celeb grave and explore the Patton Museum since they're on the way home.

Wow! It's cool that you lived in my home town, Michelle Pfeiffer lived in FountainValley and went to F.V.H.S. the same time as me. I think there may be some celebrities living in Newport Beach.

At century city I was looking around in a gag shop and David Hasselhoff came in to look around. This was before bay watch and night rider. He was then on the young and restless. He was very handsome in person. So it's possible your husband could see a celebrity. A lot of times you wouldn't recognize them.

Hope you guys have fun!

He's under the impression there is some building somewhere with a neon flashing arrow that says 'Meet Celebs Here!' I told him such a thing doesn't exist. There's live audience tapings and such but those require tickets and you aren't guaranteed entrance. I can guarantee he will be on the lookout everywhere he goes.

I'm sure I've crossed paths with celebs unknowingly. I don't look for them and I'm not aware enough (for the most part) to recognize them just passing by them. I did have a chance meeting with Michael Jackson some years ago and couldn't find my voice. I'm sure I looked like an idiot.

They used to film Knightrider in Covina, where I grew up. They used the downtown area for a lot of movies over the years. My mom had a Firebird, and she used to rev her engine when she saw the Hasselhoff. She had a bit of a crush on him. He seemed like a nice, fun guy. My dad had a bit in Hometown U.S.A. Never a big hit but he had fun.

I worked on the main street in Sierra Madre. They used to film a lot of movies there, too. I was an extra in Night of the Living Dead Part II. I finally watched it with DH years ago and didn't see myself. My bit was probably on the cutting room floor. But it was fun seeing all the zombies walking around, myself included.

Then I worked in a firm on Wilshire Blvd. I went outside one day to go to lunch and it was snowing. Yep, fake snow. They were filming something. My co-workers and I walked down the street and I bumped into a short, stocky man. My friend told me it was Robert DeNiro. I looked back, yep. I just don't recognize people right away.

I remember when they were filming a movie at my law school. Every time someone came/went they had to stop filming. Jennifer Beals was getting pissed.

I recognize people when they are filming because they are made up and in costume. But otherwise, it's hard. Usually whoever I'm with has to point them out to me.

Neat!

I love the old fashioned soda shop where That Thing You Do was filmed. Offered to take DH but he never saw that movie so he's not interested.

I pick up the rental car at 11 then have to deposit DS at grandma's. I have a feeling it's going to be a long few hours till DH is off and we can hit the road.

FIL made his tacos last night as a send off for us. Yummy!

Been to the old fashion soda shoppe at least twice, best chocolate soda I ever had there. Unfortunately it's no longer there, at least that was what I heard.

Must've been a temporary closure. I just looked it up and it's still in business.
