Caitlyn's car was stolen between 3 and 4 am. She called us after filing a report. Bless her heart, just about everything she had was in that car.
So. That's how my day started.

It's still raining! It's been more than 24 hours of almost continuous rain. It's rained at least 20 of the last 24 hours. *sigh* Would someone make it stop, please?
Can I ask why she kept everything in the car? Was she planning to leave?
No. Clothing, wise.
She was switching out winter for summer stuff, that kind of thing.
She's going to need new clothes.

Because of the mess the thieves will have undoubtedly done to it and the hassle she will go through with the ins company when they think that damage she claims may have already existed. I've been through it. The thieves don't care about the transmission or engine and will race it and that damage won't be realized until later, well after the ins claim has been settled.

The car is on its last leg, anyway.
By doing this, and the tag has been suspended, too, it's more likely to get spotted.
Because it was reported stolen, and the insurance halted, and the tag suspended, if they get in an accident, we are not responsible for any damages.
To anyone or their property.
The car had liability. It won't cover the car. Just anyone else that got hit.
But now, if there is a wreck, it won't be on our insurance .

While my husband was still in high school, it was a bright red Baja bug. The police found the shell of his vehicle the next day stripped of the engine, wheels, transmission and even the seats.
I’m so sorry this happened to Caitlyn, I hope she will be able to get another car.
We've taken the steps to make sure Caitlyn is not responsible for any damages caused by the thieves.

Reminds me of criminals being able to sue you if they get hurt on your property. Stupid laws.
