I am seriously considering putting my dogs on a raw food diet. Does anyone here do this with their dogs? I've been researching a bit on the variety of food they need, but like organs? Where do you buy organs??
It kind of grosses me out to be honest but I think I can get past it. I'm tired of seeing them choke down kibble day after day.

Not a dog expert so I don't have any input on that part. But, I imagine you can get liver at the grocery store. Or maybe a meat market? Sounds like it might be pricey. Would you give veggies too?
I plan on doing veggies too, although from what I've read they don't necessarily need them all that much. But I mean, my dogs love carrots and other things

I was thinking of trying that briefly. Part of that was giving my dog raw mean, egg shells, raw eggs, etc. And, there are certain veggies you can feed them too. My dog didn't want to munch on egg shells, lol. My dog really doesn't even like bones that much. She did like the raw meats. But, I just got tired of doing it so I quit. So, back to Iams, lol. And, I do give her some eggs, meat, vegs from time to time.
But, you have to be incredibly diligent with keeping his eating area clean.
Raw meat can't just sit.
And then there is things like salmonella and E.coli.

Back in the '40s and '50s, we used to
feed our beagles a mixture of horse
meat, shredded wheat, and water.
The meat came frozen, and we had
to remember to take it out of the
freezer before we left for school.
It does seem like a lot of work LGS and Lily, definitely have to be careful of bacteria. Momala that doesn't sound too hard!
There are also dog food delivery companies that deliver freshly made food to your door that I'm considering. But they cost between $30-$40 a week, so I'm not sure how that would compare to doing my own raw food diet. Takes the work out of it though that's for sure

My dog is a Doodle, she hasn't found her inner wolf, lol. I tried. But, really instead of going All or Nothing, why not just get a good quality dog food and supplement part of her diet with the raw diet? We Americans tend to be All or Nothing type thinkers.

Actually the delivery foods have that option too, less expensive. They sell you smaller portions to supplement the regular diet. I may do that.

I have Sonny on a grain free diet, salmon and peas. He is small so I think I spend maybe $15 a month on food. I do give him milk bone treats as opposed to grain free treats. If the diet is 100% grain free the dog will become a pooping machine.
