Gosh, it will be Halloween, before we know it.

I wish the weather in DFW would get a clue. It's 73 and muggy. Heading for a high of 84. I no more feel like going for a walk, than flying to the moon.

But, I'm going to force myself out the door, and get it done before the sun comes up.

I hope everyone has a good day!smile

It was a pretty day yesterday! Definitely less humid than it has been. Today is supposed to be nice, too. We turned the heater back on the pool so we can get some more use out of it before it's closed next week.

Hot and humid here too. Still expecting summer temps at least another 2 weeks.

Working from home today. I have a cold and the nasty symptoms hit today. Thought I would spare my office mate.

Under total cloud cover again! I'm so over this crappy weather. It's going to be a long winter if this continues. Still suffering with the sore throat.

Did you make it out for your walk, FWM?

IKWTDS, I hope you feel better soon.

Hey ya'll.

It was bright and sunny earlier this morning, but it started clouding up about an hour ago.

More rain for this afternoon.

Heading out to get ribbon for orders, and a few other things, before it starts.

As my kids would say, Happy 1st day of Halloween!

DS' school opened kindergarten enrollment for the 2019/2020 school year today. His application has been submitted. Registration in November. No, I don't like this. Not one little bit!

He's loving preschool and is already excited about kindergarten. His teacher says he's ready. That makes one of us. I'm still wrapping my head around him being 5 in December.

Yes, I got out for my walk. After 1.5 miles I was pouring sweat, so I called it good enough for today.

When I pulled in the driveway, I thought to myself, you're already a sweaty mess, might as well tackle a sweaty chore.

So, I grabbed my hedge trimmers, and started trimming my front bushes. They needed it badly.

Now, I usually start by the garage, and work my way to the corner of the house. Right to left.

Don't ask me why, but today I started at the corner of the house, and worked my way toward the garage.

That was a bit of good luck.

Because when I got to the last bush by the garage, a yellow jacket came out and stung me on my left thumb. Ouch!

Then, some of his friends joined in. So I ran into the garage, and grabbed the wasp and hornet spray, and started spraying.

I hope I didn't kill my bush.wink

Oh well.

Enjoy your pool while you can, FNW!

Good morning, Trudy and SB!

I hope you feel better soon, IKWTDS.

I hope you feel better soon too, FS.

Good luck with your ribbon orders, Lily.

Okay, I need to hit the shower.

I put fertilizer on the lawn, after I did battle with the yellow jackets.

I smell like a goat.

We were talking about how he helps the other kids in his class with their classwork the other day. He declared that he was going to go into 2nd grade because he's the teacher now. Not how it works but whoa kid, slow down!

Looks like we are going out for mom's birthday tonight.

She's 71 today.

Chinese. At least the soup is usually good.

That's kind of shocking for me to read, Lily.

My two older sisters, are older than your Mom. (Born in April of 1942, and July of 1943.) That would be Monica and Trudy.

I hope your Mom has a happy birthday!smile

I had a tough time, in second grade. My Mom, had her new job in Chicago.

My Dad, and us younger kids, were in Campbell, still stuck with Babci. (Babci is Polish, for Grandmother. My Mom's mother)

Gosh, those were some hard times.

I try not to think about it.

Mom's mom was 17 when she had mom.

Oh, I get it, Lily.

It was just such a long time, from when Monica and Trudy were born...until the second wave arrived.

It strikes me a bit funny to hear, that someone has a Mom, younger than two of my sisters.wink

My Mom married young. And had Monica and Trudy, by her first husband.

He was killed, in WWII. At Leyte Gulf. He was hit by a sniper in December of 1944...and lingered, and died, in early January of 1945.

My Mom, was a young widow, with two babies, a sister, 7 years younger than her, a Mother....and, her Dad dropped dead of a heart attack, just a few months after her first husband, was killed.

My Mom, was the sole support for a bunch of people, at a very young age.

She met My Dad, in 1946. He had also fought in WWII. And, he lived to tell.

Dad was 36, Mom was 24, with a couple of war orphans, when they met, and started dating.

It must have been love. With all the baggage my Mom came with, my Dad married her. And raised Monica and Trudy, as his own.

They never dreamed, they would be able to have children of their own.

Mom had to have one ovary removed, and 2/3 of the other one, after she had Trudy.

Doctor's considered her sterile. And, my Dad, good Catholic that he was, signed papers with the church when they got married, stating that he would never use this, as grounds for annulment. He knew it, going in.

Time passed. No kids.

Until 1958. My Mom had a gallbladder attack, and they did emergency surgery.

When the doctor came out to speak to my Dad, Dad asked, How is she?

She's fine. She's also about 6 weeks pregnant. My Dad said,  Doctor, this is no time for joking.

The doctor said, No joke. You are going to be a Dad, if all goes well.

All went well. Irene was born, October 26, 1958.

I showed up in March of 1960.

Chris came along in November of 1961.

My Dad was born, December 10, 1910.

My Mom was born, September 30, 1923.

They covered 3 decades, between them. Monica and Trudy in the 40's.

Irene, in the 50's.

Me and Chris, in the 60's.

Good grief, I was an Aunt, at the age of 9. My niece Julie, was born in 1969. (Monica's oldest child)biggrin

Yep. Life has a way being lived.

Mom is older than her uncle.

Imagine your grandmother being pregnant when your 7.

I'm only 10 years younger than mom's youngest brother.

But here's a kicker.

Mom was only 5 years younger than her stepfather.

Roger that, Lindley.

My Dad, saw a lot too, before he died, June 26, 1990.

I lost my best friend, that day. I was always a Daddy's girl.

On the bright side, I was sitting on his hospital bed, petting his head, when he took his last breath.

The hardest phone call I ever had to make, was to my Mom. Who had been at the hospital early that morning, and went on to work. Knowing that I would be there soon.

Mom, you've got to come, now.

Mom said, I'm on the way!

I didn't have the guts to say, Daddy just died. I was holding his hand, patting his head, when he died.

Nope. I was a coward.

All it took, was one look at me, as Mom came running down the hallway to the hospital room.

She knew, it was too late. Uncle Leo was standing with me. So were Aunt Marylou, and Uncle Bill. (Uncle Leo, was my Dad's younger brother. Aunt Marylou, was his youngest sister.)

I was the one with Daddy, when he died. Not her.

It wasn't anyone's fault, that it worked out that way. My Dad could have lingered, for a few more days, in a semi-coma. All of his doctors said that. That's why Mom, went on to work. She thought there was a little more time.

I just carry the guilt, that I didn't call my Mom as soon as I got there. I had a feeling, the end was near. And, that Mom would want to be there, with Daddy.

No cell phones, back then.

And, I wouldn't call from the phone in Dad's room, for fear that he would hear me.

Some times, the best of intentions, just go all to hell, in a handbasket.

Gosh, have I made so many mistakes, that God doesn't love me, anymore?

This will probably have to be a new thread in the Break Room. Things have gone so wrong, the stress is crushing me. I don't know how much longer I will last, before I break down, and lose my mind.cry

My favorite so far was the young baby stage - when he started to be more alert during the day but wasn't crawling yet. Ever since he's learned he can move his body himself, he's been on the move. He doesn't walk. He runs. I miss the immobile days ... especially when he's being a brat and running away from us. Ahhh ... the easy life ... lol!
