We're supposed to get down to the
low 30's - which is rare for South
Texas - especially this early in the
season.
Lightening and thunder all around

Our electric company came out
earlier today, and switched out
one of the malfunctioning security
lights - MAN it is BRIGHT! And the
lineman said that it would be more
cost effective than the old light,
saving us money. That's always
nice.
I am so glad Thursday is over and I get to sleep in tomorrow since I don't work until the afternoon. It was a good day though. A customer gave me a $5 scratch off because he said I was so helpful and pleasant. The ticket netted me $100. YAY me! lol
Cold here too. Flurries expected later tonight. I am so not ready for this.

Just settling into my second 'career'. Did a MA program with a woman who was working on her 2nd (note ,2nd) PhD at 70.
I was in law school in my 30's. My father got his B.S. in his 50's. My brother graduated with a very wealthy woman who was in her 70's. She didn't need it, she wanted it.

Shred the yams, I assume you are talking fresh, mix with salt, pepper, bread crumbs and 1 to two eggs. Place in small piles on a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake in a 425 oven until done. About 20 minutes.
Butternut squash can make a really good pie, cut in half, gut. Roast and scoop out, mix with sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and an egg. Pour into a pie crust, bake at 375 for 20-30 minutes.

Yams in Orange Cups
3 oranges or 6 tangerines 1 stick
butter 1tsp lemon rind, grated
fine pinch cinnamon pinch cloves
pinch cardamom 6 yams, cooked
1/2tsp salt 2Tbsp orange juice
Cut oranges in half crosswise; cut
around inside of shells & scoop out
pulp. Press pulp through sieve to
extract juice. Set aside shells and
juice. Mash yams. Beat in butter,
salt, lemon rind & spices. Add
juice. Pile yam mixture into cups.
Bake at 350 for 15 min or until
lightly browned.
For those who like marshmallows,
add 1 marshmallow to each orange
or 2 mini marshmallows if you are
using tangerines.

Good afternoon! Thinking about you chef and prayers lifted up. I hope you all are staying warm, it's in the 30s here and it actually would be 3 inches accumulation if the ground was cold, now it's just flurries.
Our house painter is here and not only is he good but is fast. He finished the upper floor and hallways in two days and today he finished our basement and is now painting our dining room.
Just found out Postmodern Jukebox will be in Chattanooga NYE.
Gonna have to try to get tickets!

They filmed Supernatural across the street from my building the other day. One of the set guys lives in the building. Nearly walked my dog onto the set of Once Upon a Time in the woods recently too. Bloody filming sets all over the city.
Both Riverdale and Sabrina are being filmed right now too.

There is so much filming out here! It's usually okay, but when something big is being filmed (like Deadpool) it's a pain in the rear because so much of the city gets closed off for it. Major throughfares and parts of the city become inaccessible which makes everyone have to use alternate routes which get all clogged up. It's fun watching the filming sometimes though. There was a giant rain machine once. They would just move it over the actors and dump water like a giant shower.
I have clients who are industry-related. One came in the other week and said 'I got blown up 4 times this week and shot twice! It was awesome!'

You'd have to chase them around the city. Filming here doesn't really have a static 'set'. Except for the Riverdale diner. You can actually go eat there when they aren't filming.
They film things in my town but it's usually residential for the big old southern houses so it doesn't mess much up. I can't imagine the inconvenience created by filming in a big city.
