There's a huge accident at the intersection I need to get on the main highway to go into town. DD and I are stalking the traffic cameras online waiting for it to clear up. The only way around would be to take the creepy road to further down the highway and do a 50 mile detour via I-95.
The reason for no alt route is due to the base on one side and a huge plantation on the other. And water. Water water everywhere!
We did the grocery thing yesterday, FWM. The crowds were crazy.

Our local paper updated the accident by me this morning. 3 sent to the hospital then 2 were shipped to Charleston. That means the injures were pretty bad. A EMS supervisor plowed into a van carrying 6 people headed out of town for the holiday. They were just sitting at a red light. And of course, a GoFundMe has been set up for the family.

OK. For those of you who need to have
a glamerous "side dish" on turkey day,
have I got a winner for you!
Yams were on sale - 8 pounds for $1!
Tangerines were also on sale - so goodie
for me!
YAMS IN ORANGE/TANGRINE CUPS
3 oranges/6 tangerines 1 stick butter
1t lemon zest pinch cinnamon pinch
cardamom pinch clove 6 yams, peeled
and cooked 6/12 marshmallows 1/2t
salt 2T orange/tangerine juice
Cut tangerines in half crosswise; cut
around inside of shells & scoop out pulp.
Press pulp through sieve to extract juice.
Set aside shells and juice. Mash potatoes.
Beat in butter, salt, lemon zest & spices.
Add juice. Pile potato mixture into cups.
Top each w/ marshmallows. Bake at 350
for 15 min until lightly browned.
Can make ahead of time and refrigerate
before baking.
Made this for our community Feast of
Sharing, and it got rave reviews.

Another update. The vehicle that got hit was carrying a family. Parents and three kids plus a friend of one of the girls. It got hit so hard it spun around and got hit again. The mother passed away yesterday and a 7 year old girl is in a medically induced coma. The friend is slightly injured as was the driver of the EMS vehicle. Please pray for this family. The other guy as well. I'm sure he's devastated too.
