Food sensitivity/ allergies

I had a concerning reaction a few weeks ago after eating lobster bisque. I did one of those food sensitivity tests where you mail a few strands of hair in to a lab. Yep, lobster was at the top of the list! Grrrr! Also milk, corn, avacado, pineapple,  and sodium nitrate. I have an appointment Wednesday with the allergy doc to make it official. Anyone ever do one of those mail in tests?

Wow. No, but my kids had them given to them by the allergist. The only food allergy was a scant reaction to egg whites. I still cook with eggs all the time and my son is fine.

What? My boys had to go through the pick tests, Jesse had to do it twice.

Anywho, no, never did a mail in allergy test.

Is there anything you can't do these days?

Mine did the prick tests for environmental allergies but for food, they drew blood.

Well, I'm going to the allergy doc now so I'm sure I'll get the lovely prick test. DD had it a few years ago so I know the drill.
I'm also allergic to honeybees and yellow #2 and blue #2.

You may have a Vitamin E deficiency, not an allergy. When people have vitamin e deficiency they typically react to shell fish as if allergic.

They tested my minerals too. The only ones I came up as deficient were B12 and Magnesium.

They had to go through both.

But just saying, it can be done with hair??

You know, I wonder if it's wise to do those mail in tests?

Wonder what the fine print says?

The mail in DNA tests are being data based.

This would be just one more thing to add to your column in the data profile.

Yep which is why I will not answer emails to my DNA testing.

I wonder about the information being used for things like insurance, jobs, and who knows what else.
