One of my coworkers transferred to another department a few weeks ago. She had been in our department for about 18 years. The last few days she was with us she went around taking a bunch of photos of everyone and shared them on FB. In one of the pics all the people were flipping the camera off. The department head wrote everyone in the photo up yesterday. They were all in scrubs, with badges visible, clearly in the department during working hours. The nurse had begged dept head to only write her up since she took the pic and posted it. She told her nope and she should apologize to her friends. Getting written up means one is no eligible for annual gain sharing checks. AKA, no bonus. 

Lesson, don't have everyone you work with including the doctors and bosses on your facebook page!! And stop sharing EVERYTHING!!

Ouch, a tough lesson for all. No bonus is a big punishment for one person's carelessness in posting on line.

And that is why I refused to join my company's facebook page..

I never accepted friend requests from anyone I worked with.

Of course, it was against company policy.

I'm friends with my boss, but I work in a VERY casual environment. As long as I'm not posting pictures of the airplanes I'm good. (and even that they are pretty lenient about, a lot of guys at my work post airplane pics)

 Sorry, that's not one person's carelessness.  All of them were idiots for flipping off the camera in a group work photo no matter how much in "fun".  Are these not adults?

on department head's part.

Is there anyone over the department
head that the poster can go to and
appeal the punishment to her co-workers?

 Employee retention is huge today, at least in my neck of the woods.  Losing a bonus will not sit well.  SB prepare for a lot of people looking for new jobs.

 Vette!  I was just thinking about you the other day and wondering where you were!  I have all the kids parents on my FB page but I'm very careful what I post.  And I NEVER post pictures of the kids without their permission.

I know some teachers who set up Facebooks under a different name or just their first and middle name, etc. That way cuts down on people nebbing on their page.
