So at our morning meeting we learned we may not be getting gainshare check today. Why you ask? Because apparently, the computer doesn't know how to make checks since it's been a few years. Seriously. I call BS. Sounds like a programmer issue. I bet the CEO got his several hundred thousand dollar bonus. Bah! Humbug!
Jesse has gone to get his girlfriend, she is helping me.
The goal is finish
Fudge
Peanut butter fudge
Peppermint bark
Potato candy
Cookies
And cupcakes.
I might make some pralines, too.
It's a rainy, dark day, but I've got all the Christmas lights on.
Happy Friday!

Now DH has the stomach bug. He's in quarantine. Ugh.
Sorry. Hope he feels better fast.

Wow, SB, that stinks! Staff always gets the shaft when it comes to bonus's. Sorry that is happening to all of you.
Trudy, did you forget the umbrella? ;) Sorry your DH is not feeling well today.
FNW, sorry about your DH being sick as well.
Lily, that's a lot of candy making for one day. Good luck and hope all of it is delicious.
IKWTDS, how exciting! This must be the winter of the bathroom remodel. You, SB and I, all within a short period of time. I'm waiting on the new flooring and the last of the electrical work to be done. But the painting has begun! And the bathroom is fully functional again!
Today is cleaning day for me....so much dust!!!
Tomorrow DH and I go Christmas shopping. Yup, we are in the last minute group of nuts, lol.
Hope everyone has a great day and an amazing pre-Christmas weekend!

Do you see a theme?
Faith isn't something that keeps bad things from happening. Faith is what helps us get through bad things when they do happen.
We had a huge windstorm yesterday. Knocked out most of the lower mainland and the Island. Some rural areas (on the island mostly) will not get power back for days because crews can't get there. Many of the smaller islands are cut off because ferries aren't running.
My apartment lost power for about 12 hours - we were super lucky. Last time it was 2 days. There are more pictures in the link. One of construction scaffolding coming off a building, looking like it's being peeled like a banana. Major ones of houses absolutely crushed. I've been able to post one here of a barn that actually took flight. Like in the Wizard of Oz!
The bottom one is an ocean pier. It flooded and disintegrated so quickly that they had to air-lift some poor guy off the end of it. Go to the link and check out some of the videos - it's crazy!

The running joke here is that people freak out at the smallest sign of inclement weather (I've seen people abandon vehicles on the side of the road because it is raining too hard), and that we must 'stay strong' through the worst of it.
Well, to be honest, we didn't realize it either! That was sort of a freak thing. Never seen trees that size come up from their roots or scaffolding get pulled off buildings! Not to mention barns flying through the air ...
Oh Tig ~
What a horrible time to lose power!
Glad to know that you are okay, even
if you may have to quickly use up any
foods that got defrosted. You should
be okay without power for 12 hours.
If your food still has ice crystals in it,
you can safely refreeze it. Quality
may be less than optimal, but it is
still safe to consume.
Oh my gosh Tig!! I am so glad you are ok.
Get well wishes for all the sickies!
Don't work too hard Lily and vette!
My bathroom remodel won't be for several months. I have to recover from new roof and wood fence.

Thank you Momala - I think that the only thing that I wonl't take the chance on is the chicken. I didn't have a chance to double check it before it re-froze (power came on after i was in bed) and won't take the chance. The eggs should be fine, as well as the milk (in the fridge :) I don't freeze those things) and the cheese.
The fuller your freezer is the more likely food will stay frozen. If you don't stock up then throw water bottles in and around your food JIC of a power outage. Just something to think about in the future.
