It's raining! It has been raining since before 5 a.m. this morning. With the ground frozen, we have large lake beds in yards and in the streets. DD has water in her back room. Man, is she ticked. They thought they have fixed that problem.
Picked up little man late yesterday afternoon. It was either yesterday or it wasn't going to happen. Had planned to get him on Thursday, but the weather forecast said "oh, hell no!"
He was so excited to come to Grandma's, he counted the miles. He says he's staying for 106 days. Such optimism!

Torrential downpour this morning for all
of ten minutes. Now the sun is shining
and DH is putting his watermelon seedlings
in the ground. Here's hoping we don't get
any more cold snaps.
Please say a prayer for our area. We have extensive flooding. Two inches of rain since 5 a.m. on top of frozen ground with deep snow. The sewer drains are frozen and there is water pouring into homes and basements.
We have water pouring into our basement for the first time ever. Thankfully, there is a floor drain close to the area with the water coming in. DD is not so lucky. They remodeled the west side of their house last summer and it is now ruined from water pouring in over the door sill. Their back yard is completely flooded and under 5 inches of water. They just got our sump pump and went and bought a new shop vac.
I know understand why the crazy neighbor was driving through the running water, their basement is flooding as well.
Highways are closed. One has actually washed away.
I have never seen anything like this.
Farmers are scrambling to move cattle from calving yards to save the newborn calves. Everything is flooding.
This may turn into a major disaster for a large area. More rain and snow yet to come.
My heart hurts for the farmers and their livestock.

I feel for you, absent the freezing, we still have areas under water from the rains we had.
A state of emergency was declared weeks ago.
In Tennessee, in the Chattanooga area, there is a neighborhood with 4 to 5 feet of water. It's full of fecal matter, too.
And there really isn't anything that can be done except wait for it to dry up.
Prayers will be said.
