What do you think? I know most of those being charged are celebs and CEOs and of course most are Dems. I will bet you though it is not a Dem only issue.
I know long ago, when college was unattainable for many (talking about 70+ years ago) it was common that those who came from families with the means to pay tuition were accepted as long as the student had some merit. But that was at private schools. Both my parents went to Brown University, an Ivy League School, in the early 50's. Mom extremely smart Dad smart just not exceptional. That was the times. Also College wasn't as important then as it is today.

I mean hasn't this gone on for eons? Donate money. They build a wing in the donor's name. Their kid goes to the school. Not sure what is different about this that hasn't been going on forever.

Yeah that is always going on. But this recent issue is about paying people to take entrance exams for students and recruiters to hook the parents up to those people. With private colleges I don't care. They are over priced anyway. But concerning that some state colleges are involved.

If they were adults, and knew what was going on, I think they should be charged as well.

I think it has a lot to do with the school involvement. It wasn't just about accepting charitable donations. It was about faking entrance exams and buying their way on to recruitment lists.
I have mixed feelings about higher education anyway. They seem to be heavily into indoctrination. I went at night, part-time, so I didn't experience any of that. But my brother attended a private college and came home a card carrying Sierra Club member devoted to saving the environment and would get angry if our parents so much as used snail bait in THEIR garden. I mean I prefer gardening organic as the next guy but he was really over the top. He's calmed down since then and is much more conservative, thankfully.
I think corruption was there and assumed but not it's being proven and people are being outed. I think it's funny, personally. I always felt that people who do wrong eventually get their comeuppance.

I would love to know who dropped the dime.

I mean, these people stole that place from another, more deserving person.

I don't think it's a Dem vs. REpublican issue. I think it's an unethical rich person issue.
The sues are now being sued for people that feel they were wrongfully excluded, or that feel their diplomas are now worth less. These can't go anywhere. First, there is an intervening criminal act that occurred that the school is not responsible for; and second, these people would have to prove they would have been admitted if not for this practice, and that is so subjective, there is no way to prove it.

Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli's 19-year-old daughter was on the yacht of billionaire Rick Caruso, the chairman of USC's Board of Trustees, during Tuesday’s indictment that charged the couple in a nationwide college cheating scandal.
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Olivia Jade Giannulli, a freshman at USC, was in the Bahamas for spring break on Tuesday with Caruso's 19-year-old daughter Gianna "Gigi" Caruso, before she returned to Los Angeles on Wednesday, according to multiple outlets. Both women are freshmen at USC.
“My daughter and a group of students left for spring break prior to the government’s announcement yesterday. Once we became aware of the investigation, the young woman decided it would be in her best interest to return home," Caruso said in a statement to THR.
Caruso's 216-foot yacht Invictus, valued at over $100 million, accommodates 12 guests and 19 crew members, according to reports.
Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli have been charged in the scheme to get their two daughters admitted to USC by paying $500,000 to have the children designated as recruits for the rowing team, though they did not row crew.
"The charges filed yesterday against employees of USC are disturbing and the alleged activity is absolutely wrong," Caruso continued. "I am saddened that these people would abuse their positions of trust and, as the government has alleged, victimize USC in the process. There is no option other than zero tolerance for this type of behavior. As a result, USC has fired the alleged wrongdoers."
Caruso is the developer behind The Grove at Farmers Market and several other Los Angeles developments. His influencer daughter has 29,400 followers on Instagram and is CEO and co-founder (with her mother Tina, a former swimsuit model and designer) of the luxury swimwear line Gigi C Bikinis, launched in 2017.
Born with hearing loss, Gigi Caruso was treated by doctors at USC's Keck School of Medicine. In 2015, Rick and Tina Caruso donated $25 million to the school to endow and name it the USC Tina and Rick Caruso Department of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery, known for research and treatment of ear, nose and throat diseases.
This is another #metoo movement that the dems have to deal with. Perhaps related to Pelosi dropping impeachment moves against Trump. What is Pelosi hiding?

I'm confused how this is a #metoo thing, unless it's the amount of people admitting they got scholarships for sports they don't play ...

It's #metoo-like as in all the outing of scandals that had once been hidden.

I thought you meant as in a puffed up problem to distract from other things that are not panning out the way the leftist media doesn't want to talk about.

I'm taking issue with this whole thing. I mean, they just got charged, and people are losing jobs, becoming pariah, etc. They have not yet been convicted, I think lynching them is a bit premature.
If they are guilty, they need to pay for their crimes, but I don't like this court of public opinion jumping so crazy ahead of the justice system.

I must still be misunderstanding. Is it only Dems or only Reps that are being caught out in the scandal? I still don't see how this is a political thing.

Most of those charged are dems, so their elitist ways will be front and center during the upcoming elections which is why I stated it is something they will have to deal with. I do not see the overall scandal as a Dem party, I am sure there are plenty conservatives that have done the same. This is an elitist issue.
