Imagine how much better this country would be if they put as much focus on helping the homeless vets and the mentally ill issues and finding solutions as they put into impeaching the president and killing babies. They are making themselves look really bad.

Well, Trump said he "drain the swamp", seems it's being drained.

It's about damn time. Gosh, they threw up enough road blocks. They knew this was coming if the Mueller investigation did not go their way and it didn't.

Bwahahahaha! Love it.

Liberal's will finally learn that they really are snowflakes. Lying pieces of …..

And Britain's public health system is collapsing. This all spells big trouble for Dems running on Russia collusion issues and medicare for all.

Wish I could post the articles but on my phone.

The British health care system has been collapsing for years. It's to the point of no recovery.

Another socialist concept debunked.

I hear Finland's is collapsing as well.

If anyone is truly serious about cutting health care costs, it's going to be setting caps on drugs, procedures, and general care.

Insulin is getting outrageous, and the big three say it's because of research.

Now, I know research is the biggest chunk of money when it comes to drugs.

It just seems disproportionate.

Ours seems to be doing okay.  I've had multiple specialist referrals in the last few months and all of them have gotten in touch with me within two weeks (except for 1, but he's on vacation and I don't expect to hear from him till mid-may).  I have a doctor that I like and most of the specialists have been great to work for - and have referred me to other specialists as needed.  Granted, my primary doc is not a family doc per say.  Just one I keep showing up to one walk-in day.  She asked who my fam doc was and I told her that it was her.

Granted, I don't have to wait for an MRI (that list is long, but only because we don't have enough machines).  One of my neighbours had an aneurysm and they had him in to surgery within two weeks (it wasn't all that urgent).  Granted, they did discharge him early because they had to quarantine people on his floor who had the flu.  He's also had cancer removed from his colon more than once.  I don't think that our system is collapsing; in fact, I'm having a better experience of it than ever.

That's interesting. I lived in Buffalo years ago and Canadians routinely came to Buffalo for health care.

Apparently in England, you are on a long wait list for cataract surgery to the point where people are having severe visual loss. And, when we were in England, my mom hurt her leg, not severely, but enough to warrant an office visit and as a cash payer, she went to the head of the line.

No system is perfect. And, I really dont' know what the best answer is. I do think that enacting NHS worked in England and Canada was doable in the times that those countries did it. Now, we have far too many lobbyists, special interest groups, people who always want to be the exception, etc for it to work. I wish there was a better way.

Bolded is I believe is the issue.  Due to the ACA in the US we now have middlemen contracting prices between pharmaceutical companies and Pharmacies and it that is what has driven up the price of diabetes insulin and many other low cost drugs and other prescriptions.  That issue needs to be tackled and run into the ground.

Probably still do.  But they would pay and arm and a leg, so it's for services we don't have here.  A friend of mine had spinal surgery that didn't go well and  the next option is the Mayo clinic.  Meds used to be cheaper too, but I think that now that is just mexico.

I take my dog across the border for surgeries.  Cheaper.

G's ex boss lives in Canada and comes here for ALL of his medical needs. Our doctors are much more efficient and see him on HIS schedule. And he gets to choose the doctors he wants to see.

A co-worker has a daughter getting her Masters at University of Edinburgh. She HAD to pay the NHS fee. She's been there since August. She is diabetic. She has YET to see a doctor. She has to go to a clinic to get a GP assigned. The clinic does not take appointments. She has literally waited in line ALL DAY several times, only to be sent home because they didn't get to her before closing. Her mother has to send her insulin every month. She would be dead if her mother didn't do that...

Hmm. I've never had a problem choosing my doctor. Granted, I've seen some pretty inefficient ones, but think that is general luck of the draw. The bottom of the class in medical school is still a doctor.....
