He has finished basics, is at Navy school, whatever that is, in Pensacola for about 6 weeks, then he's going to Washington indefinitely.
I need ideas.
I'm planning to send him a small care package once a month, but I don't want it to get mundane .
I will be including a local, fat, Sunday newspaper each time, to help keep him up to date with local stuff.
Ideas for other things?

Ground coffee and other items he can use as barter such as wurther originals, twizzlers. I sent a care package every month for 8 years to DS and these items were the staples. Of course coming up to a holiday month send something seasonal that he can decorate his rack with. Oh fresh white t-shirts and undies. Sometimes laundry time is hard to come by.

Just remember any snacks you send may take some time to arrive if he is deployed. Also, the packages are subjected to the abuses of the postal services as well as the military.
The ship he is assigned to is in port and will be there for 2-3 years. So he won't be deployed for a while, unless something changes, of course.

Send him some local products that he likes and may not be able to get in Washington. Guessing the only things they cannot have are the same things that are prohibited from being mailed - drugs, etc.
