Hottest and Coolest States in the Summer
Permalink

You might be surprised to hear that Arizona and Nevada, don't even make the top 10, in spite of having some of the hottest cities.

We're number 1! Gosh, I wish we weren't. But, it's true.

Here's a link to the article: http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/hottest-and-coolest-states-in-the-summer/ss-AADmjJb?li=BBnbcA1&OCID=AVRES000

According to your link, Phoenix, Arizona is the hottest city.

Couldn't find a hottest states list.

I kind of thought Missouri would be higher up in the ranks. I don't think the heat would be so bad if it wasn't for the high humidity. When I was in California a couple of years ago it was 90 degrees and was comfortable in shorts and a tank top, I thought to myself that I actually liked summer growing up there and here in misery (mo) 90 degrees is miserable

How true! Humidity, is what kills us. It's hard to breathe, when the outside air, feels like a sauna.cry

Here is what Phoenix looks like, right now: 112

°F °C

Mostly Sunny
  • Feels Like 112°
  • Wind
    W
    3 mph
  • Barometer 29.85 in
  • Visibility 10 mi
  • Humidity 9%
  • Dew Point 32°

And, here is what Fort Worth looks like, right now:98

°F °C

Mostly Sunny
  • Feels Like 116°
  • Wind
    ESE
    9 mph
  • Barometer 29.90 in
  • Visibility 10 mi
  • Humidity 53%
  • Dew Point 76°

Now, would I rather go burn one, on chef's patio? Or, mine?

I want to go hang out with chef...and that 9% humidity!wink

No, my pretties!

I, lose.

So hot and humid, it's hard to breathe.

I'd rather be in Phoenix, right about now.

Dry heat, low humidity, I can take. That's how it used to be in Fort Worth, back in the day.

This is, for the birds.cry

Oh hell...I wouldn't wish this on anyone...including, the birds.no

And, it's pouring rain!

Thunder and lightening, to boot.

I hope this knocks down the humidity, a bit.

Please, God!wink

Yeah its the absent of humidity that makes Phoenix lower on the list.
When I was there a year ago, the 115 temps were not too terrible given it was so dry and the evenings were beautiful.

Well, there's that.

But, I think, what knocks some of the states, that you would think would be near the top of the hottest list, is mountains.

Arizona, Nevada...they both have very hot cities.

But, as a state wide average, they have mountains...which are cool/cold.

That brings down the average temperature, for the state.

And, that's why they don't even make the top ten.

Mountains.wink

My best guess.

It can be 75 here, and feel like it's 90 or higher. The humidity makes it miserable at times.

And a pop up shower? That like pouring water over rocks in a sauna.

The ruler to measure was average highs, and number of of days with temps over 90 in a year.

We've been in the 90s since April, here in my end of the north Georgia mountains.
