We have a wedding to go to in Old Town Alexandria. Getting a hotel room so we can drink without worries. It's an Irish Catholic wedding. They are providing transportation to/from church, hotel & restaurant where the reception is being held. An older bride and groom with some money, apparently. One of my DH's employees is the groom to be.
Have fun on your vacation SB:), hello ikwtd, I remember going out to breakfast with my daughter, good memories, have fun at the wedding fnw, I’ve never been to a catholic wedding.
Getting ready to leave this Tuesday to my daughters, my granddaughters are so excited and I believe excited overload 😂 not only excited to welcome baby brother, but get to stay in a hotel with us while mommy is in the hospital.

Enjoy your visit and the new baby!! In the next 4 months at work we have 3 births, an adoption, and a retirement.
Weddings, vacations, babies, and to do lists. It's all so exciting.
Tomorrow is the first baby shower for Caitlyn, the church is giving it. I still have about 8 weeks before I meet my grandbaby.
Dad's having issues again.
I'm just messing around the house today, too.
Happy Saturday.

Which hotel? The Sheraton,on King? OR the Embassy suites? Can I come?

I stayed there 20+ years ago! Wow, it seems like it was just a few years ago. Hope that you have a great time.
They've expanded and renovated since then. It had gone down a bit and has been making a comeback. I'm tempted to buy a second week. They are super cheap in the winter months.

Do they also sell condos outright?

Not there but there are condos there too. In that section they run about $500,000. They average about $1,800 a week in rental income. We used to stay in one just a few steps away but decided it's a lot cheaper to buy the timeshare and just have the annual fee every year. Plus most condos don't have a pool. Also, we can use the parking and pool year round and can get discounts on other weeks if we want to stay.

We stayed at The Alexandrian. It's a Marriott hotel and was quite lovely. Only 2 or 3 blocks from the Chart House so we walked back to it after midnight since the shuttle wasn't available any longer. The couple rented out the entire restaurant for the reception and food and drinks were nonstop from 6 until we decided to leave at midnight. There was the raw bar to beat all raw bars which was stocked (in addition to our dinner where we had yuge NY strip steaks) until around 10:30 when they brought out pizzas and Old Bay french fries to snack on. The appetizers before dinner were fantastic as well and there were a few stations of food where people could graze. I understand there was an after party at the hotel bar which the couple arranged (and paid) for but we were too wiped out and went to bed. There was a brunch at the hotel but we didn't go.
