It's time for me to start my Christmas shopping and the girls are easy. But like usual I'm having trouble with the men in my life. Ideas anyone? And what are you all getting your men for Christmas? Karl, what do YOU want for Christmas? Sigh, why is this so hard for me?

What do I want? Well, at my age I am no longer interested in material gifts. A nice Christmas card, a telephone call to say hello and catch up. Just confirmation of friendships...

Guys are always hard to buy for. You just have to put yourself in their place (as much as that is possible) and think what would make them happy. You might be surprised. Not necessarily something expensive or difficult to find.

Good luck with your shopping.

I have nothing. I have problems, too. My DH's birthday was in September and I got him a case he can use to hold his golf clubs when we travel. The one he had wore out on our last trip to Palm Springs so I remembered that and purchased a replacement.

It's also a tradition that I buy him new underwear and socks. I also buy him a couple new Under Armor shirts. He goes through the white ones pretty quickly so I get him one. He also likes to read a lot so I find out what might be coming out and get him one of those. He's been reading Baldacci's latest series and he lives near by so I might see if I can get him to sign his next one. That might make it a little more special.

No issue with the men on my list, really it is just Dad and DS. my siblings, newphews and nieces and I do a Yankee swap so we all just need to provide one gift. I have already bought mine.

For Dad it will be cash, and sigh yes, I know his horrible wife will take it. Plus I will give him all the pre market crash stocks and bonds from his grandfather. Given they are dated in the late 1800's early 1900's I am sure they are worthless, although I should confirm that. In the box of his I also have WWI and WWII medals earned by his GF and father.

Since DS bought the large house in the spring he will be easy. In fact have already bought him a couple of items. Will probably get him another smart TV as well.

Thanks for the input so far! Karl, that is really sweet, and ugh, putting myself in his shoes that's the hard part!! But I'm trying.

Lottery tickets that's a neat idea, he does buy the lottery. He doesn't read but maybe I could get him like a dirt bike magazine subscription that's an idea...

I did buy him a new hair trimmer set because his broke but he needs it right now so not sure that I can pass that off as a Christmas gift. Honestly, him and my stepson only are interested in things I can't afford.

As for my grandpa, unfortunately I don't even think he will make it to Christmas so what do you get someone in that situation? A nice phone call is probably a great idea here.

This year I'll probably replace
DH's electric shaver, and get him
a really nice sweater - he feels
the cold. And I'll look for some
items for his boat.

I just gifted my husband massages for his birthday - from a masseuse, not me.

For Christmas, he normally gets some new clothes, shoes, a DVD or two, an ITunes gift card for his ipod, and usually a Barnes and Noble gift card b/c that's where we met. I'm going to be really sad when it's not Barnes and Noble, anymore.

Occasionally, he'll tell me something he wants. He really likes the massages, though. Kayla is great, we both use her.

Yeah, I'm like massively insecure and would never be on board with him getting massages, unless he would be on board with getting them from a dude! Luckily we got a Chinese massage once and it hurt so bad it kind of turned him off from professional massage.

Is Barnes and noble going away?

Barnes and Noble has been sold to a hedge fund.  They also own a British book store chain, so not sure if they plan to merge them, change the name or just keep them going.  Just don't know.

Are they sports fans? How about some merch? Or tickets?

A gift card to a good detailing place?

Weathertech floor liners. The commercials make me want some.

Gadgets? A drone, go pro, dash cam?

Magazine subscriptions?

What about an experience?  Race car ride along, sky diving?

Classes like cooking, golf, or painting?

Season tickets or membership to something like an amusement park, or aquarium?
