How sad that our children have to go through something like this. School should be a safe place for them to learn, not to be placed in peril.
I agree however most of the lockdowns are due to rumors and knucklehead kids running their mouths. When I was in HS we had plenty of that but the school wasn't locked down. The suspected offenders were removed.
I get that today people are more sensitive to these issues and appreciate the school and police for keeping the kids safe.

When I was in high school we had a bomb threat around every final exam time. We followed fire drill procedures and got about 45 minutes of outside time.
Here in my corner of the world the sun is out, it's on the warmer side of 54, and I have a physical this afternoon.

Anyways, nothing but work today. It's my alternate day because I'm at a conference in Alberta during my work days, and I can't really afford to miss anything.
Kid brought an air soft gun to school. He was brought to the PD. Wouldn't tell them where he his it in the beginning.
A BB gun. And he now has a record. That's ridiculous.
30 years ago everyone had a knife in their pocket, and just about everyone had a gun in their car at school.
There has been a fundamental break sometime in the last 30 years.

I guess they are better off playing it safe than not these days. With all these "student rights", the school's hands are tied from taking care of these situations themselves.
Air soft guns look real except for the orange tip. They shoot plastic BB's and the game / sport has been around since the 70's. Kid hid it out side the school. Idiot for bringing it on to school property.

Some in my family shoots potatoes out of a potato gun. It’s a sad state of our time that kids can’t even be safe in schools anymore. Younger grandson is starting to have a attitude problem, screaming at the top of his lungs, I fear that he is starting the terrible twos a bit early.

I agree about being coddled is hurting our kid, adversity helps us to be stronger If this younger generation suddenly have to go through a depression like our grandparents plus parents went through I fear that they wouldn’t be able to handle it. Of course im Not talking about things that would cause them great harm.

They are doing really well. Caitlyn is off the prescription pain meds, using motion or Tylenol, and Jewel is sleeping about 6 hours at night.
They both have checkups tomorrow.
