Okay so. I'm going to Indonesia after Christmas and am stuck on what to pack. It's going to be a catamaran trip around some of the lesser known southeastern islands, far away from Bali and Jakarta. Has anyone been there?
I know that the majority of the trip will be on water and on beaches. But, there will be a bit of on-land time too. So ... here's what i have:
2 pair leggings (mainly for on deck) as well as
2 basic tee
hoodie and sweats
3x athletic shorts (I wear them over swim suits)
3x towel (I need a bunch of them)
*need to go by Wal-Mart to get a swim suit - the one I have is trashed*
All the necessary meds: Immodium, etc. and my daily meds
flashlight
ipad
3 x sunglasses
sunscreen & bug spray
flip flops & water shoes
What else? What kind of regular pants should I take?
get a hat with a visor and a clip for it where both ends of the "string" has a clip, one for the hat and one to clip to your shirt. If you don't do this you will lose your hat. It's windy when sailing. Also a water resistance bag to keep your things in.
Long sleeve T
Water resistant pants

I always take a nice outfit, a dress usually, incase I want or need to dress up a bit.
Sunglasses. At least 3 pair.

Good call on all of it. I hadn't even thought about a hat. I'll have to find some water resistant pants - maybe a swing by VV to check their outdoor section.
Remember that Indonesia is largely Muslim and I believe Bali has a large Hindu and Buddhist population so I wouldn’t recommend skimpy clothing and dress respectful if your tour any temples and leave tourist areas.
You would love the Indonesian food, Sate, Rendong, coconut chicken, so good. My daughter and her family lived in Indonesia for a couple of years and her housekeeper cooked for them, she was a amazing cook.
water bottle
long sleeve shirt (I only own 1 so will have to look for a second)
Roots wool socks
2 dry sacs
3 sunglasses with attachment thingy
sturdy walking/hiking shoes
malaria pills/antibiotics
Still need:
a hat.
socks higher than ankle
another long sleeve shirt
long pants
Good reminder, thank you. I'll stick a couple of shrugs in there.
Do you know how hard it is to find (affordable) bathing suits in the winter? Hitting up a second Wal-Mart today after fail at the first one, Winners, Marshals and Mark's. I remember getting some at Forever 21 a few years ago, but you really can't pay me to set foot in that store again.
Make sure everything goes together. In case you need to swap a top because of spill, or pants because of a tear.
Then you don't have to change an entire outfit.
